Purkinje fiber

Purkinje fibers are thin slow fibers in striated muscles and Purkinje fibers of skeletal muscles, belonging to nerve fibers. Provide rapid conduction of excitation to the skeletal and cardiac muscles. They belong to specific nerve cells. They have a diameter of 8-9 microns, a length of 50-120 microns, and belong to a small population

Purkinjes fibers are specialized nerve fibers located in the human myocardium and are thin, long filaments (diameter from 0.15 to 2.0 µm). They are also known as cardiac muscle fibers or cardiac fibrous fibers.

Purkinje fibers are sensitive to stimulation and perform an important function in coordinating the contraction-relaxation of the heart muscle. Volok
