Withering Psychosis

**Withering psychosis** (also translated as involutional psychosis) refers to a group of psychotic disorders characterized by an affective and agitated state or delusional disorder caused by aging and changes in the physiological state. The term “withering psychosis” is not generally accepted; the name “involutional” would be more correct.

Involutional mental delirium can progress, autonomic disorders appear with a decrease in temperature and pulse rate to normal. It begins in the form of an asthenic state, and then flows into a depressive state. The patient experiences a disorder of consciousness and hallucinations. When psychosis approaches, a person feels sadness and apathy, he experiences anxiety and signs of depersonalization. The person becomes moody and grumpy.
