Subulate teeth

Subulate teeth are bony outgrowths located on the human jaw in the upper or lower jaw. They are formed by the alveolar processes of the jaws and include one or more teeth. Subulate teeth are part of the temporomandibular joint and play an important role in the chewing process.

The formation of awl-shaped teeth begins during human embryonic development, when cells in the tooth buds differentiate and become osteoblasts. These osteoblasts then begin to synthesize components of dental tissue, including collagen and minerals. The formation of awl-shaped teeth occurs slowly, over several months, and they form together with the rest of the teeth.
