Botox in the eyebrow area how many units

A specialist can determine exactly how many units of Botox for rejuvenation are needed on the forehead and between the eyebrows after assessing the condition of your skin. The number of units of neurotoxin and the cost of the procedure depend on the patient’s age, depth of wrinkles, and amount of work. Calculation of the dosage is very important; a small dose of the substance will not be able to eliminate deep folds, and a large dose will lead to the development of temporary complications.

Recently, opponents of this type of rejuvenation have appeared. There is no need to be afraid of paresis, numbness on one side of the face, or asymmetry. The specialist accurately calculates the dosage and determines the injection points. Even a slight loss of sensitivity goes away within a few days after rejuvenation.

The principle of action and effectiveness of Botox

Botox is a processed version of neurotoxin type A that is injected under a person's skin for aesthetic and therapeutic purposes. The drug is used in cosmetology, surgery, and neurology. Butolotoxin penetrates the nerve endings and blocks their contractions. As a result, the muscles stop contracting, and the skin in the areas of wrinkles is actively regenerated. Thanks to this, natural rejuvenation occurs, the condition of the dermis improves, and the fight against excessive dryness occurs.

With the help of injections, the oval is corrected, wrinkles on the forehead, between the eyebrows, nasolabial triangle, neck and décolleté are smoothed out. The mechanism of action of Botox on muscles and nerve endings is based on a chemical reaction in the body:

  1. Botox molecules connect and react with the presynaptic membranes of neurons;
  2. molecules penetrate deep into neurons;
  3. membrane protein (SNAP-25) is broken down in nerve endings;
  4. the release of acetylcholine, which is responsible for transmitting nerve impulses to muscles, is temporarily blocked.

Important! After the procedure, the woman experiences slight paralysis at the injection sites. This reaction allows you to smooth out wrinkles and prevent the appearance of new ones. But over time, the effect decreases, and in the absence of repeated acupuncture, the paresis disappears completely.

Botox allows you to preserve natural facial expressions, but at the same time prevents the appearance of furrows when smiling, laughing, frowning, or surprise. The face becomes 5-10 years younger. With its help, you can hide age-related changes on the neck, arms, feet, and décolleté.

How to determine your individual dosage

The cosmetologist, dermatologist or plastic surgeon who will conduct butoloxin therapy should determine the dosage of the drug. The decision is based on studying the characteristics of the skin, age and gender of the patient. Women are given more units than men; those with dry skin require fewer units for the entire face (average 20-30).

Most often, the specialist first makes the required number of injections in the area between the eyebrows and forehead, and after a few weeks looks at the skin’s reaction. The furrows are refilled with neurotoxin after two weeks if the wrinkles are still visible. The maximum number of units is calculated based on the patient's age. At 35 years old, no more than 35 injections will be required, at 50 years old - no more than 50.

The result of a cosmetic procedure depends on the following factors:

  1. correct dilution of the drug;
  2. compliance with the shelf life of butolotoxin;
  3. use of freshly diluted product (4-6 hours after dilution);
  4. inserting an insulin needle into the correct place through which the drug will spread and react;
  5. taking into account previous wrinkle corrections using Botox;
  6. correction zone.

This is interesting! About 1% of people are not sensitive to butolotoxin, so this rejuvenation method is not suitable for them. Also, patients who have experienced butholism (foodborne toxic infection) have antibodies to the substance, which does not allow it to affect the facial muscles.

During the rejuvenation procedure, one unit of Botox is carefully injected into the crease. Then the cosmetologist assesses the condition of the skin and distributes the product with his hands using a massage. If the specialist is satisfied with the appearance of the treated area, he moves on to a new point. If the furrows are not filled sufficiently, another injection is given.

What happens if you make the wrong choice?

To avoid unpleasant consequences, dose selection must be careful. In laboratory studies, it has been proven that administration of more than 3000 units leads to the death of the patient. However, such a number of injections is not required for facial rejuvenation.

Insufficient units will not result in any change. In this case, the woman will waste her money. As the dosage increases, paresis will occur; this is not fatal, but it greatly worsens the patient’s appearance. This condition will go away on its own in 6-8 months.

Important! If you have changed cosmetologist and want to rejuvenate your forehead and eyebrows with Botox, tell the specialist what drug you used last time, how much time has passed, how many units were injected.

Incorrect dosage selection and inexperienced actions of a specialist lead to the development of the following complications:

  1. edema;
  2. redness;
  3. pain at the injection site;
  4. “mask” effect;
  5. facial paresis;
  6. hematomas;
  7. drooping eyelids;
  8. eyebrow asymmetry;
  9. drooping corners of the lips;
  10. headaches, dizziness;
  11. dry eye mucosa, blurred vision.

Before the procedure, it is necessary to conduct an allergy test. To do this, 1 unit of Botox is injected subcutaneously in the area of the elbow or hand. Intolerance to one of the components can lead to itching, rash, and Quincke's edema. In this case, the patient is offered Dysport or Xeomin, which have other excipients in their composition.

What does a unit of Botox mean?

The Botox unit is an international unit that is designed to help you understand how much of the drug can be used during cosmetic services and treatment. Many people mistakenly believe that 1 unit is equal to 1 ml of the drug. One bottle contains 100 units, which are diluted with 2.5 ml of saline solution for use. The result is about 3 ml of neurotoxin, which can be enough for 2-3 patients.

In the absence of obvious facial asymmetry, each unit of Botox is injected on both sides. Depending on the depth of the furrows on the forehead and between the eyebrows, several injections are made into one wrinkle. Butolotoxin is gradually distributed, recreates volume, and blocks the work of some facial muscles.

Standard volume for different parts of the body

After the cosmetologist has explained what 1 unit of Botox is, the individual volume of the drug is calculated. To preserve the naturalness of the face, it is not recommended to administer more than 50 units; the main dosage falls on the upper part.

How much butolotoxin do you need for your face? Average dosage of the drug depending on the area of administration:

  1. wrinkles on the forehead – 10-30 units;
  2. vertical creases between the eyebrows – 10-20 units;
  3. correction of eyebrow ptosis – 5 units;
  4. bridge of the nose – 5-10 units;
  5. chin – 6-10 units;
  6. nasolabial folds to lift the corners of the lips – 3-6 units;
  7. jaw line – 45-50 units;
  8. one point, injection – 1 unit;

Note! If a cosmetologist uses Dysport (an analogue of Botox), 2-3 times more of the drug is taken, since it contains less neurotoxin.

Many women are interested in how many units of Botox should be used on their eyes. If you want to refresh your look and remove crow's feet around the eyes, you will need up to 35 units. To raise eyebrows, 3-5 injections are enough. Botox is also used to enlarge lips and eliminate wrinkles on them (6-15 units).

If, in addition to injections in the forehead, you want to correct the body, the following dosage is used: neck - 50 units, armpits - 55 units on each side, feet or back of the hands - 60 units on each limb. These zones are popular among women over 60 years old, when the arms, legs and décolleté area begin to reveal the woman’s age.

Recommendations from cosmetologists

If you decide to rejuvenate with butolin toxin therapy, avoid chemical or mechanical peeling, facial cleansing, and visiting a solarium for several weeks. The drug is not administered to areas with inflammation, pimples, or wounds. Therefore, get rid of skin imperfections first. Also, you should not give injections during menstruation, when sensitivity is increased.

Before administering Botox, you need to undergo some preparation. Three days before the procedure, give up alcohol and do not go to the gym. You should not take medications that affect blood clotting.

After your dosage is calculated, the cosmetologist will draw the injection points. To fill all the folds and furrows on the forehead and between the eyebrows, the specialist asks you to depict various emotions using facial expressions. It is the places of greater muscle activity that require partial immobilization.

Before you leave, consult a cosmetologist about skin care. After the procedure (the first half day), you should follow the recommendations:

  1. do not bend over or lower your face down;
  2. do not take a hot shower, do not visit the sauna, steam bath;
  3. refuse any physical activity;
  4. do not touch your face with your hands, do not wrinkle or massage;
  5. do not do makeup or cosmetic procedures;
  6. Use sunscreen or a wide-brimmed hat.

If necessary, you will be prescribed an antiseptic, regenerating ointment and painkiller. These medications will need to be used for the first 2-3 days. Here's what cosmetologist Irina Ovchinnikova says about this:

Important! Be sure to remember how many units you were injected with and what drug. After six months, the dosage should be lower, otherwise you will get an unnaturally motionless forehead and eyebrows.

At home, injections in the forehead and between the eyebrows are not given, since this requires knowledge about the properties of different types of skin, storage of the drug, and the peculiarities of the functioning of the facial muscles. Self-administering the drug can hit a nerve, causing paralysis and facial asymmetry. Sometimes there are women who cannot close or open their eyes, smile openly and speak clearly. All cases are victims of unskilled rejuvenation.

How long does the Botox effect last?

The effect of the procedure will appear gradually. But a cosmetologist will be able to assess the future result immediately after administering Botox. On the second day, you will begin to notice the smoothing of wrinkles on your own, and the maximum effect will appear after 14-21 days.

Botox dissolves over time, so failure to block the muscles will cause wrinkles to appear again. Often women are interested in how long 20-30 units of the drug lasts for the forehead and between the eyebrows. After 6-8 months, you need to visit a cosmetologist for repeated rejuvenation. In subsequent times, the volume of the administered drug is reduced, since the neurotoxin accumulates in small doses. Therefore, each new procedure will have the same effect, but for less money. The cosmetologist will decide exactly how many injections will be needed after the examination.

The duration of the Botox effect depends on metabolism, so in women over 40 years of age, muscle immobility remains longer. If lip correction is performed, their volume is reduced depending on the original size. In thin lips, the drug naturally dissolves faster.

Conclusion

In the area of the forehead and between the eyebrows, deep wrinkles begin to form first. To get rid of them, cosmetologists suggest temporarily reducing the activity of the facial muscles and filling all folds with Botox. Small doses of this drug are not dangerous to humans. Correct administration will provide facial rejuvenation for 5-10 years. To achieve the desired effect, careful selection of dosage is carried out. To do this, the condition of your skin, the number of previous injections, the depth of wrinkles and the amount of work are taken into account.

Botox - principle of action and its effectiveness

Botox is a drug created 35 years ago by Allergan (USA) for the treatment of spastic tics after strokes and cerebral palsy. It contains the neurotoxin of the causative agent of botulism (botulinum toxin). When administered intramuscularly, it blocks the nerve endings and causes temporary paralysis of that muscle.

When administered to patients for medical reasons, a cosmetic effect was also noticed - smoothing out wrinkles due to immobilization of facial muscles. The effect of the drug is long-lasting, at least 4 months. That is why Botox injections have become the most popular means of “returning” a youthful face all over the world.

How to determine your individual dosage

In each case, the injection points and dosage of the drug are determined individually. To do this, before the procedure, the cosmetologist performs a special examination. The patient is asked to tense the muscles in the intended injection area. For example, frown your eyebrows, wrinkle your forehead. Taking into account the formation of wrinkles during facial expressions, the doctor determines how much of the drug is best to inject into what point.

In addition, the density of the skin, skin type, the depth of existing wrinkles, the activity of a person’s facial expressions as a whole, and his age are taken into account. Also, men have thicker skin and require a much higher dosage.

After assessing all these parameters, the cosmetologist calculates the required amount of the drug for each zone (and injection point) and makes injections. For initial administration, the dosage is slightly higher than for repeated administration, but not more than 250 units in total.

After the full effect has developed, at a follow-up appointment 2 weeks later, the doctor checks whether the administered dose of Botox was enough and whether the face looks symmetrical during facial expressions. If correction is necessary, several more units of the drug are administered.

What happens if the dosage is incorrectly selected?

The correctness of the administered dosage is determined 2 weeks after the injections. There are only three options for the development of events:

  1. The dosage is insufficient. Manifests itself with a weak effect or its absence. The wrinkles have not decreased, all facial expressions are preserved. If the patient followed the regimen after Botox administration, then there may be a weak sensitivity to this drug and a higher dosage is required.
  2. The dosage is excessive. In this case, the muscles completely lose mobility, and a “mask” effect appears. There is no facial expression, and due to the work of the remaining intact muscles when expressing emotions, the face can become distorted. This is an unpleasant consequence, but it does not pose a threat. After 4 months, the effect of Botox will begin to weaken and facial expressions will begin to appear again, as before.
  3. The dosage is generally correct, but! Cases of facial asymmetry in a patient are not uncommon. On one side, the muscle may attach differently than on the other, or may differ in length. Sometimes a person himself may raise one eyebrow more often, for example, or smile more on one side. If the cosmetologist did not see and take into account these individual characteristics, but introduced equal doses of Botox in both directions, the symmetry of the face may be disrupted. Thus, sometimes the injection into the right and left halves of the face needs to be done differently.

What is a unit of Botox

All drugs containing botulinum toxin are labeled with the number of units.

One unit of Botox is equivalent to a 100% lethal dose for mice when administered intraperitoneally. Dysport, for example, has less botulinum toxin content; 1 unit corresponds to a 50% lethal dose.

Why is such a unit needed? Using this, it is easy to understand in which zone how much of the drug was injected. It is not always convenient to navigate by milliliters, because bottles are produced in different volumes. The price in salons is also always indicated for 1 unit.

How much Botox is needed for different areas of the face and body

The drug is administered to different points in the muscles of the face, neck and body, in the area of which folds, creases, and wrinkles have appeared. Sometimes, Botox is administered to correct hyperhidrosis. Each zone has its own average values, which the cosmetologist focuses on. Places of administration:

  1. The jawline, to improve the oval of the face you will need 40-60 units.
  2. Neck (correction of transverse wrinkles and creases) 20-50 units, depending on the depth of wrinkles and folds.
  3. Armpits, correction of hyperhidrosis, 100 units on both sides.
  4. Palms, correction of hyperhidrosis, 60 units each.
  5. Feet, correction of hyperhidrosis, 60 units each.

But about the face we need clarification:

  1. forehead — transverse folds appear on it when the forehead is wrinkled or the eyebrows are raised, and subsequently they turn into creases and wrinkles. Depending on the depth of the wrinkles, correction will require from 6 to 30 units,
  2. between the eyebrows — folds and wrinkles appear when the eyebrows move; this is where the “proud” muscle is located. Correction requires 8-25 units.
  3. brow area - is involved in frowning of the eyebrows and wrinkling of the forehead, requires 5-15 units of the drug,
  4. bridge of the nose - here wrinkles appear due to the habit of squinting, here you will need 4-10 units,
  5. eye area — with age, “crow’s feet” appear in the outer corners; 10-20 units of Botox are needed to correct them,
  6. area around lips - these are either wrinkles above the upper lip (purse-string), require 2-5 units, or drooping corners of the mouth 5-10 units.
  7. chin, you can raise it with 5-7 units.

How much Botox do you need for the first time?

During the initial administration, an average dosage is given, after which you need to wait 2 weeks. Upon re-examination, the doctor assesses the severity of the effect and, if necessary, injects the required number of units.

If the patient injects regularly and is not coming for the first or second time, the Botox dosage is reduced. Firstly, there may be residual effects from the previous administration. And secondly, the habit of active facial expressions is gradually lost due to muscle immobility, and with it the severity of facial wrinkles also decreases.

How long does the effect last?

The manufacturer's instructions for the drug state that the duration of action is 4 months. This is the average time, which is influenced by various factors:

  1. blood flow at injection sites,
  2. general metabolic rate,
  3. the presence of antibodies to botulinum toxin in the body (previous botulism or vaccination against it),
  4. frequency of heating of the injection zone (insolation, baths, saunas accelerate elimination)
  5. the use of certain antibacterial drugs, as well as alcohol, can accelerate the onset of “awakening” of the muscles.

On average, a repeat procedure is usually required after about 6 months.

Contraindications

Since the active ingredient in Botox is a neurotoxin, the drug has many contraindications.

  1. Pregnancy at any stage and lactation. No studies have been conducted to determine whether botulinum toxin penetrates the placental barrier or into breast milk. Therefore, the risk to the child’s health in this case is not justified.
  2. Allergic manifestations, especially to protein substances.
  3. Myasthenic syndrome. A condition in which the contractile function of muscles is already impaired or weakened.
  4. Autoimmune diseases affecting the skin - scleroderma, systemic lupus erythematosus.
  5. Acute infectious diseases or exacerbations of chronic ones (viral infections, tuberculosis).
  6. Taking antibacterial drugs, anticoagulants, benzodiazepines.
  7. Infectious manifestations on the skin in the injection area, acne, furunculosis, psoriasis.
  8. Allergic diseases in the acute phase - seasonal asthma, urticaria, dermatitis, conjunctivitis.
  9. Poor vision, high degree of myopia.
  10. The recovery period after surgery is less than 2 weeks.
  11. Significant sagging of tissues, especially in the eyelids and jawline.

Possible complications

Some complications arise during the procedure:

  1. Small hematomas and hemorrhages form at the injection sites.
  2. Pain at the injection points.
  3. Visible facial asymmetry due to uneven administration of the drug.

And some complications are a consequence of the introduction of botulinum toxin into the body:

  1. Allergic reaction of varying severity.
  2. Lack of effect - 1% of people have immunity to this toxin and therefore the muscle relaxant effect of Botox does not manifest itself.
  3. Excessive effect, frozen face in case of overdose.
  4. Headaches range from mild to severe migraine-like.
  5. Double vision, blurred vision.
  6. Subcutaneous seals at injection sites.
  7. Drooping (ptosis) of the eyelids or eyebrows, swelling of the eyelids.
  8. Weakening of lip mobility.
  9. The appearance of creases when the points for Botox injection are incorrectly determined.

Alternative drugs

American Botox was the first drug of this kind and is widely used in cosmetology. In some countries, analogues of this drug have been released onto the market. The active ingredient in all is botulinum neurotoxin type A, which blocks nerve endings.

Indications for use are the same - combating wrinkles, age-related skin changes, increased oiliness and sweating. The contraindications are also the same, with differences in the allergic reaction to each individual drug. Preparation for injections and restrictions after it are the same for both Botox and its analogues.

Despite the similarities, there are also many differences between the analogues and the original:

  1. The size of botulinum toxin molecules differs in each drug, and the ability to distribute the drug in tissues, and therefore the effect of administration, depends on it.
  2. All analogues have different concentrations of botulinum toxin, so the number of units per injection will differ.
  3. Due to the differences in additional components, the storage conditions of the drugs differ.
  4. The duration of action and time until the onset of effect are different for drugs.
  5. When administered, a person’s subjective sensations, as well as the body’s reaction to the drugs, can vary greatly.
  6. The price of drugs and, accordingly, the cost of the procedure are very different.

So, drugs analogues of Botox.

Dysport

The French drug has been used in Russia since 1999, so a lot of experience has been accumulated in its use. The bottles contain 300 and 500 units, the excipient is lactose, which can cause an allergic reaction in some cases.

The main difference between the drug Dysport is that the size of the botulinum toxin protein molecules in it is 2 times smaller than in the original. Accordingly, it has increased permeability into neighboring tissues; the effect affects not only the facial muscle into which it was injected, but also neighboring ones.

The dosage of Dysport to achieve an equivalent effect should be 2 times greater than for Botox. Dysport is 2 times cheaper than Botox, and as a result, the final cost of injection of these two drugs is approximately the same.

Xeomin

A German drug, used in Russia since 2008. It does not contain protein molecules, so the risk of developing an allergic reaction to the drug is minimal. It also does not require refrigeration.

Botulinum toxin molecules are the smallest in size. Therefore, an important property is very high tissue penetration and distribution far beyond the injection zone. In this regard, the drug immobilizes fine facial wrinkles well and has virtually no effect on deep ones. Due to its high diffuseness, Xeomin is not used for the treatment of hyperhidrosis.

Lantox

A Chinese analogue of Botox, available in bottles of 50 and 100 units.

The excipient here is gelatin, so there are frequent allergic reactions to its administration. Also, when injected, it creates severe discomfort, pain, and leaves hematomas. Not effective for deep muscles of the face and neck.

Its advantages are the low cost of injections (compared to European and American analogues) and a long-lasting effect for 8-10 months.

Relatox

In 2011, the domestic company NPO Microgen released its analogue of Botox in the form of lyophilisate powder of 50 and 100 units.

The drug is as close as possible to Botox in properties, action and dosage. However, it is much more affordable.

The disadvantages are the pain of administration, possible allergic and dyspeptic symptoms after injection due to the presence of gelatin in the composition. The effect of the drug also applies only to the superficial facial muscles, without affecting the deep muscles. The duration of action is even longer than the original - 9 months.

Correction of wrinkles with botulinum toxin (as part of Botox or any of its analogues) has no equal among non-surgical methods of combating age-related changes in speed and strength of effect. No cream, mask or physiotherapy eliminates wrinkles as quickly and effectively. The main thing is to find an experienced cosmetologist and follow all his recommendations!

Today, there are many different procedures for visual rejuvenation and giving the face a fresh and rested look.

One of the most common methods that everyone hears about is Botox injections.

The content of the article:

Getting to know the drug

Botox can be used in any area of the face and body. Once in the body, the compound breaks down into a pure neurotoxin, which blocks neuromuscular transmission of impulses.

In addition to cosmetology, Botox is used for medicinal purposes - to relieve painful spasms, for strabismus, nervous tics and cerebral palsy.

Most wrinkles on the face are formed due to facial movements. We may not even notice some of them, because... muscles make micromovements or are in constant tension.

Neurotoxin helps relieve muscle tension, due to which the depth of wrinkles is significantly reduced and has a preventive effect on the appearance of new skin defects.

Botox lasts approximately 6-8 months. The drug temporarily accumulates at the injection site and then enters the systemic circulation. The drug is excreted through the urinary tract.

The medicine has no general effect on the body and does not penetrate the brain.

General rules of application

The dosage is individual for each patient. It is determined not only by the type of task being solved during the procedure, but also by the characteristics of his body: skin type, age and even gender.

Only a specialist with a higher medical education can select the dosage - in the context of cosmetic procedures, he can be a dermatologist, cosmetologist or plastic surgeon.

The dosage is not selected “by eye”. This requires a special procedure that takes place in several stages. During them the following actions are performed:

  1. Initial administration in small dosage.
  2. Repeated injection after 1-2 weeks. When visiting again, the doctor must evaluate the effect, the absence of side effects and the patient’s well-being. If the drug is accepted by the body well, then the patient is given additional doses that correct the initial result.
  3. Maintenance injections are performed every 6-12 months. Each time, the doctor evaluates the duration of the result, its effectiveness, and also makes sure that the patient’s body reacts normally.

If the dosage is chosen incorrectly, two scenarios may occur.

  1. If the dosage is too low, the patient simply will not see the expected effect.
  2. Too high a dosage is much more dangerous - the facial muscles can be constrained by a “mask”, the face will completely lose elasticity and the ability to contract muscles until the drug is completely removed from the body.

Do not forget about the possible development of an allergy to the drug. It should be tested in low dosage to avoid causing anaphylactic shock in the patient.

When visiting a specialist, the patient should be warned about whether he is doing the procedure for the first time or has previously received Botox injections. This is important information because... during initial administration, the dosage is always higher than for repeated use.

Calculation features

Botox is a trade name produced by Allergan. This drug has its own dosing system, which is not identical to the milligrams and milliliters familiar to everyone.

Injecting about 3,000 units of the drug into a person is a lethal dose. Units of different botulinum toxin analogues are not the same in volume, and depend on the results of laboratory tests of each of the compounds.

One bottle of the product contains 100 units. Before use, the product is diluted in saline solution.

The calculation for one injection is made from the number of pure units of Botox. To rejuvenate various areas, approximately the following amount of substance is required:

  1. One point injection takes 1-2 units;
  2. horizontal wrinkles in the forehead area – 15–25 units;
  3. wrinkles in the area between the eyebrows – 10–25 units.

The dosage is calculated taking into account the characteristics of the body, as well as the type and condition of the skin. – thin and dry skin requires less product than oily skin, and women require less than men.

Stages of the procedure

The patient requires some special preparation to perform the procedure. 3 days before the session, you should not drink alcohol, 24 hours before the session, avoid excessive physical activity, and also take any medications that prevent blood clotting.

It should be kept in mind that from 1 to 3 days after the session, traces of injections will be visible on the face, minor bruising and slight swelling. Such a skin reaction is considered normal, however, for this reason, it is advisable to carry out the procedure before the weekend.

Also the effect will be most noticeable only 2 weeks after the procedure – this should be kept in mind if the procedure is planned before any important event.

The procedure includes the following steps:

  1. In the cosmetologist's office, the patient is asked to depict various facial movements.to determine areas of maximum muscle activity.
  2. After this, the specialist marks the injection sites. It is important to ask the patient about drug allergies and systemic diseases before administration. If everything is in order, you can start diluting the drug.
  3. The solution is injected with an insulin syringe with a fixed needle. The needle has a very small diameter, so it minimally damages the skin at the puncture sites.
  4. The skin is pre-treated with an antiseptic solution. Injections are made pointwise, with short intervals from one another. On average, it will take about 10-15 injections to get rid of wrinkles in the forehead or eyebrow area.

For at least five hours after the session, the patient is prohibited from:

  1. Bend over and lower your face down;
  2. lie down for a long time;
  3. take a hot bath and steam;
  4. be in the open sun;
  5. massage the injection sites with your hands;
  6. physical exercise;
  7. drink alcohol (at least three days after the procedure).

In the video, watch how the forehead area is rejuvenated using Botox injections.

Expected Result

The effect of the drug lasts on average 6-8 months, however, this depends on the metabolic characteristics of each individual patient.

The period can vary from 4 months to a year. As a rule, more older patients experience a relatively long-lasting effect.

In addition, from procedure to procedure the drug accumulates in the body, and each time a smaller dose is required to achieve an effect.

Maintenance injections are given approximately every 6-8 months. However, as already mentioned, in some patients the effect lasts longer, so the need for a new dose of the drug arises much later.

Are there any contraindications

An absolute contraindication for use is presence of an established allergic reaction to one or more components of the drug.

In addition, Botox should not be injected if there is an inflammatory process at the injection site.

Administration of the drug is contraindicated pregnant and lactating women, as well as patients during infectious diseases.

In this publication, find out what results are achieved with facial darsonvalization.

Possible complications

In case of an overdose of the drug, the patient may experience facial asymmetry associated with uneven muscle numbness. Depending on the amount of drug administered, this symptom may last for several months.

Immediately after injection on the face hematomas and swelling may form. They usually go away on their own within 5-14 days.

Also in the patient You may experience temporary dizziness, headache, and general malaise, which also takes place within a few days.

An allergic reaction may also occur, which requires long-term treatment with antihistamines and symptomatic medications.

When a large dose is administered, anaphylactic shock may occur.

Alternatives

As already mentioned, Botox is not the only drug based on botulinum toxin. There are other medications that work similarly, but there are some differences.

The main characteristics of alternative drugs are listed in the table below.
