Essence.
This is a "fly tree". Swollen growths appear on it, like pomegranate fruits, containing moisture, which turns into midges, and when these growths burst, the midges fly out. The leaves of this tree are eaten fresh as vegetables.
Actions and properties.
Elm is somewhat binding and purifying; its bark is astringent, and its root is not far from it in its properties.
Cosmetics.
The moisture from the petioles of the elm cleanses the face, and its bark with vinegar, while it is still fresh, cleanses the bark.
Wounds and ulcers
Elm bark is used to wrap bruised and wounded areas like a bandage, and it promotes their healing. Its leaves have the same effect, and the bark and inflorescences are suitable for treating wounds in the same way as the worm-eaten and crumbling bark of the elm and the substance that falls from it like flour. Both, especially in the form of a test of boiled wine with an equal amount of anise, prevent the spread of malignant ulcers.
Tools with joints.
A decoction of its roots and leaves is used to pour on broken bones.
Eruption organs.
If you drink one bowl of thick elm bark with boiled wine and cold water, it throws out mucus.
