After a summer spent in the city, my skin had clearly deteriorated. Having initially been more of a combination skin tone, my cheekbones have clearly become dry. And signs of dehydration were also observed. I had special hopes for the nighttime moisturizing-restoring products - there was absolutely nothing more to pin them on.

This was my first time encountering a jelly-like texture, and I was tormented by skepticism: jelly is, in theory, something light, right? And at night I want something more substantial. But the annotation indicated that Biotherm Aquasource Nuit High Density Hydrating Jelly is suitable for all skin types as a night restorative. I thought, what if he saves me too?

In practice, it turned out: the jelly is a beautiful blue color, it smells fresh, but in this smell I detect alcohol (we look at the composition - exactly, we see it in second place). The bottle is made of plastic, lightweight, with a convenient dispenser spout. (However, the spout is closed with a separate lid, which always tends to get lost.)

Through experimentation, I found out that you just need to apply the jelly immediately after washing your face, otherwise it will not be absorbed very well and will form an unpleasant film. If you do everything quickly, it literally melts on the skin.

Main active ingredients: P. Antarctica microorganism extract and pure thermal plankton to retain moisture.

I used the product for about a month - and I must admit that my initial skepticism was not justified. In the morning, the skin really looks hydrated, fresh and rested. If you have complex and complex skin like mine, I think this is a great option. Although it may not solve the problem of truly dry skin.

Givenchy Hydra Sparkling Short Night Recovery Moisturizing Mask & Cream - Night cream mask

From the name it is clear that the product combines both a moisturizing night cream and a mask. The texture is a light gel (or jelly) of an optimistic light blue color. The obvious advantages: a nice weighty bottle, a light fresh scent and a comfortable distribution on the skin.

Manufacturer's advice: apply a thin layer at night as a cream 3-4 times a week, and a thicker layer 1-2 times as a mask. (To be honest, this multi-functionality seems a little far-fetched to me, since this trick can be done with almost any nourishing or moisturizing face cream.)

I tried Hydra Sparkling in both versions, and even as an express mask. The result turned out to be controversial: it moisturizes and evens out the skin a little - yes, it doesn’t clog the pores - yes. But miracles are not visible in the mirror in the morning. And the hydration could have been stronger.

I will also note that, although the product is quickly absorbed, when applied in a thick layer as a mask, a stickiness appears that does not disappear after an hour or two. The expression “stuck to the pillow” perfectly conveys the meaning of this not very pleasant sensation.

Guerlain Super Aqua-Creme Night Balm

Judging by the texture, Guerlain Super Aqua-Creme Night Balm is a classic, rich, velvety cream. It spreads easily over the skin, is absorbed fairly quickly and does not leave a feeling of greasy or sticky. (However, if you accidentally apply too much, it starts to roll off.)

I applied the product at night to my entire face, including the area around my eyes. The skin immediately begins to glow, as if it were very well hydrated. And it becomes very soft and smooth to the touch. And in the morning it looks denser, refreshed and rested. And, yes, well hydrated.

The cream perfectly removes all peeling. And my expression wrinkles on my forehead and above the bridge of my nose seemed to smooth out a little and became less noticeable.

It doesn’t clog pores, no new inflammations have appeared. Although I did not find any mention of its non-comedogenicity either on the box or on the can itself.

Bonus - pleasant aroma. My nose could not determine what kind of fragrance it was. But Guerlain's official website says it's a fresh rose scent, with notes of ylang-ylang, jasmine and a mysterious aquatic flower. My husband said that the cream smells very good and that I should always use it. Yes, for men everything is simple :)

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Spa Nuit - Night restoring cream-gel against signs of fatigue

The annotation says that the product can be used in two ways at once: both as a mask and as a night cream. I'm a fan of masks, so I was very happy.

The brand promises that the cream is suitable for sensitive skin and those with a feeling of tightness. Hyaluronic acid is responsible for moisturizing, Vichy thermal water is responsible for softening and restoration.

The cream is blue in color, the smell is fresh and pleasant. But it is quite sticky, and this stickiness does not go away over time. As a mask, apply it for 15 minutes and then remove the residue with a cotton pad. I didn’t have a lot of leftovers, but I didn’t like rubbing my face with the cream already applied. And I started using it simply as a cream, especially since I didn’t notice any difference in the result. However, even when I wash my face in the morning, I can feel the sticky film being washed off.

In the morning, the skin really looks rested, moisturized and even tightened, the dryness on the cheekbones is gone.

But there is one more drawback: immediately after application, a slight burning sensation is felt on the skin. It goes away quickly, but the fact itself confuses me, especially since the product is intended for sensitive skin.

Kiehl's Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Masque

The mask is claimed to be suitable for all skin types. I have combination and very strange skin: in winter it literally feels like paper to the touch, but in summer it’s rather normal, with oiliness in the T-zone and rare flaking from dehydration on the cheekbones. So, Kiehl’s night mask easily removes these peelings overnight. The next morning, the skin is really saturated with moisture and clearly looks healthier (compared to how it looks in a normal morning -)).

And this hydration lasts for a couple more days for sure.

The mask contains no parabens, fragrances, or dyes; the texture is a transparent gel that is easily distributed over the face.
The only negative that I found: when applied, the product may sting a little, but this goes away quickly.

In tandem with the mask, I used Kiehl's Over-Night Biological Peel.

It removes flaking, makes the complexion brighter, pores less noticeable, and the skin smoother and softer. Peeling is also suitable for all skin types. I think I’ll continue to use these products until they run out, and maybe I’ll buy more –)

Vichy Normaderm Night Detox - Night detox care

I used the product when I returned from a hike, so there were a million problems 🙂

The skin, on the one hand, was severely burned and peeling, on the other hand, there was a clear exacerbation of acne. It was a sad moment when the skin seemed to be so dry that it hurt to touch, but oiliness and acne were also present. In general, Vichy Night Detox had a hard time with me :) Although, judging by the instructions, it is intended for such oily skin.

The texture of the product is really light, the manufacturer tells the pure truth in the annotation.

But then, personally, I had a slight discrepancy with the annotation: the cream tingled my irritated skin, but did not provide any particular healing for inflammation or hydration.

You wake up with a matte face - yes, that’s all true, but when it is covered with acne and peeling, there is little joy from this (and why a matte face at night and in the morning is a question for me :)). True, it turned out to be a small bonus: Vichy Night Detox lightened my few blackheads and made them invisible.

Result: the product mattifies well and lightens blackheads. And it will most likely suit oily skin without any problems. It’s just that he came across a difficult patient - for treating acne and moisturizing a face that has survived a campaign (devastation, hunger, cold, drought, permafrost), it is clearly too weak.

Well, my inner esthete is indignant at the fragrance of the entire Normaderm series: my God, how can a pharmaceutical product smell so strong and so... uh... unaesthetic?

There is one important point, which I must warn you about - the mask is quite sticky (and this is normal!), even after removing the excess mask, a thin sticky layer still remains on the skin, which is not very pleasant, but what are girls not willing to endure for the sake of their beauty?!
Due to glycerin, the mask is applied well and evenly to the skin. Manufacturer recommends apply the mask before bed, on a well-cleaned face, in a thick layer, for 10 minutes. Then remove the excess with a napkin and do not wash off, and let the mask work while you sleep. Frankly speaking, I neglect this point a little and happily wear the mask on my face for more than an hour. During this time, it has time to be well absorbed and, after removing the excess, the skin becomes less sticky. In the first minutes after application, the mask may cause a slight burning sensation. This skin reaction is not an allergy, but dehydrated skin reacts to the powerful moisturizing components of the mask. I was convinced of this personally, as the owner of sensitive skin; after several uses, the skin gets used to the powerful charge of hydration and the burning sensation becomes less noticeable.

This is especially noticeable in areas of the skin that suffer most from dryness, flaking and loss of moisture - cheeks, nasolabial folds. These are the areas that literally absorb the mask! The skin is noticeably smoothed, becomes incredibly soft, smooth, fresh, rested and saturated with moisture. In the morning there is no hint of peeling or telltale signs that someone likes to sleep with their face in the pillow))).

Conclusion:An excellent night mask that transforms the skin, saturates it with moisture, makes it elastic and pleasant to the touch, and the effect of the mask really lasts for a long time! I am happy to recommend the mask to those who, like me earlier, saw SOMETHING swollen in the reflection of the mirror in the morning, with dull, flabby facial skin and to those who simply monitor the condition of their skin.
