Hello everyone! I haven’t posted anything for a while, so today I’m correcting myself. In this large post we will talk about six products from the series Vichy Normaderm, which I have been using for the past two months. I have problem skin that I have been struggling with for quite some time. Over the past few years, an effective care formula has already been developed, which I try to adhere to, but the soul requires experiments from time to time, and hope never ceases to feed me with promises that perhaps this is the very miracle jar or miracle brand that will make I'm a beauty.

I will draw general conclusions about the series at the end of the post, but for now I will describe each of the products in detail.

Vichy Normaderm Deep Purifying Cleansing Gel

Vichy Normaderm Deep Purifying Cleansing Gel is declared as deeply cleansing, yet delicate, promises to cleanse pores, refresh the skin and prevent the occurrence (that is, not get rid of, but only prevent the appearance of) blackheads, and has an antibacterial effect. Contains salicylic acid, totarol and eperulin, designed to cleanse the skin and minimize irritation.

The gel has a convenient packaging with a pump that accurately dispenses the amount of gel sufficient for one wash. The gel is transparent, slightly tinted green, and has a pleasant fresh scent that will please both women and men. Foams well, forming a fairly thick and dense foam, which dissolves sebum well and removes impurities and makeup residues. It cleanses the skin well, does not dry out or tighten, although I would not call this a deep cleansing. That is, if there are blackheads and clogged pores, then the gel will not help with this in any way, just as it will not get rid of existing acne, while it resists the appearance of new ones well, without causing dryness and tightness of the skin.

The consumption of the gel is standard (as for me) - in 8 weeks of use I used 2/3 of the bottle. The package is enough for 2.5-3 months of daily use 2 times a day.

Overall, the gel did not disappoint me and did not let me down. Of course, it didn’t work miracles in the form of instantly cleansing the skin of comedones and pimples, but it did its job well. If we compare it with the Avene Cleanance gel (my favorite gel for washing), then Vichy is only slightly inferior to it (after all, Avene has a thicker foam that literally dissolves all impurities, even deep ones), deserving its solid five, although without a plus.

Vichy Normaderm Purifying Astringent Toner

The manufacturer promises that the Purifying Astringent Toner will tighten pores, cleanse the skin of excess sebum, make it matte, and smooth it out. To be honest, I am always quite skeptical about such promises specifically in relation to toners, since, in my opinion, this type of product cannot do more than cleanse the skin of cleanser residues, as well as tone and give a feeling of superficial moisture (read as “lack of tightness”).

The toner has a convenient packaging with a hinged lid and a standard narrow neck, which allows you to take the right amount of product onto a cotton pad without spilling it. The smell is alcohol-soapy with distant fresh herbaceous notes.

From the composition it immediately becomes clear that the tonic is from the alcohol category, which can immediately turn off many. I am quite tolerant of alcohol in toners, especially since in this case alcohol does not dry out the skin at all, while it disinfects well and prevents the development and spread of bacteria. They are also good for treating the skin after squeezing out a pimple (yes, yes, I know that this should not be done under any circumstances, but I can’t help it).

In principle, I have no complaints about this product. It copes with its duties well, it cleans really well (if somehow there are still impurities left after micellar water and cleansing gel, then the toner will not leave them any chance of survival). It doesn’t dry out the skin, but it doesn’t particularly moisturize it either, it tightens the pores, but this is only a visual and short-term effect. By itself it does not fight acne, but in combination with other targeted care it gives the desired result over time.

The consumption is standard - the tonic lasted for 2 months.

Vichy Normaderm Global Anti-imperfection Hydrating Cream

The Global Anti-imperfection Hydrating Cream, in my opinion, turned out to be the weakest link in all the care provided. In the entire line, this is almost the only product (except for spot gel) designed to combat acne specifically. The manufacturer promises a solution to 6 problems at once, namely: inflammatory elements, enlarged pores, oily shine, redness, acne marks and uneven complexion. And also an ultra-light texture that does not clump and is a good base for makeup.

The cream can be purchased in a 30ml tube or a bottle with a 50ml pump dispenser (I have exactly the same one). I remember that two years ago I came across a sample of this cream, then it was still a new product, after several uses of which I got the impression that the cream was a bit dense. Actually, since then the product apparently has not changed, nor have my feelings. Yes, the cream is easy to apply and spread over the skin, it smells nice, although not without an alcoholic note, but I can’t even dare to call its texture not only ultra, but even just light. For me, this is a medium-density cream, which in the summer will be heavy for oily skin, and some film created on the skin can cause perspiration (at least, this sometimes appears on my lip). Immediately after application, the skin is sticky, but this feeling quickly passes. There is a mattifying effect, but without the characteristic rolling of the cream on the skin. Makeup really goes on top of it nice and smooth.

As for the effect, everything is complicated. The declared moisturizing is there, but it is somehow strange. This is not the pleasantly light feeling of hydration that you expect from a moisturizer, but something deeper and more fundamental, as if nourished or something. But there are problems with all other points, starting from the description itself and the use of the cream. Neither the website, nor the packaging, nor the instructions say exactly when to apply this cream. Based on the logic that this cream is good under makeup, and also the fact that the line includes a night cream, I concluded that this is a day cream. Then where is the sun protection in it? Moreover, the composition states acids as active components (0.3 lipohydroxy acids and 1% each of glycolic and salicylic acids), that is, in summer, when the sun is active, it is advisable not to use it at all. On the other hand, the concentration of acids is such that in fact, to achieve any visible effect, the cream must be used for years before any tangible result appears in the fight against imperfections.

From all this I conclude that the cream is not bad for maintaining the skin in a stable condition, provides sufficient hydration, while controlling the production of sebum and smoothes the surface of the skin, narrows pores, and does not provoke new inflammation. I did not notice any therapeutic effect on myself. It seems to me that it would be better to increase the concentration of acids and make the cream a night cream, then there would be some benefit.

Vichy Normaderm Night Detox Anti-Imperfection Clarifying Care

The manufacturer claims that this cream regulates sebum production throughout the night, and also cleanses and tightens pores. Suitable, like the entire line, for men and women before and after 30 with problematic, oily, combination and sensitive skin.

I really like the packaging and design of this cream. A convenient oblong tube the color of dark green mother-of-pearl with a narrow, comfortable spout at the end (somehow reminds me of my favorite BB cream from Garnier, only more solid). The cream itself is moderately liquid, smells pleasant and fresh, although, again, there is a noticeable alcohol aroma, and the cream itself stings a little if there is any damage on the skin in the form of wounds. It applies easily, the texture is medium density, like for a night cream, even, one might say, light. It is absorbed quite quickly, within 10-15 minutes after application you can easily go to bed.

Unlike the previous one, with a detox cream everything is immediately clear: it is applied at night, promises to regulate the production of sebum and regulates it, and the effect is noticeable the next morning. At the same time, the cream does not roll off (that is, this is not a matting effect from powder-talc-starch absorbents), helps reduce inflammation and even out the overall tone. The skin in the morning is not at all oily, smooth, fresh and rested. It’s clear that since fat is not produced in usual quantities, the pores become smaller and there is less inflammation.

In a word, it’s a good cream, I liked it. I think if I only had a problem with excess oiliness and a small amount of inflammation, I could buy this cream constantly. But, again, there is no pronounced therapeutic effect from this cream, that is, it will not help get rid of acne (not periodic rashes, but acne).

Vichy Normaderm Hyaluspot Targeted Fast Active Care

The manufacturer promises that Hyaluspot has the effect of a plaster, that is, it protects the pimple with a film, thus isolating it from external bacteria, and due to the salicylic and LHA acids included in the composition, it effectively fights the inflammation itself.

So, Hyaluspot is a small 15 ml tube with a metal applicator. It is worth noting that they are really convenient for applying the gel to inflammation; the cold tip neutralizes pain and discomfort.

The product itself is transparent, has the same pleasant fragrance as the rest of the series, although, again, with a hint of alcohol. It dries quickly, but leaves a thin film on the skin, which after a few hours can begin to peel off. However, you can put up with this small drawback, since the product perfectly fights single pimples. If you manage to catch the very moment when it is just at the moment of maturation, so to speak, Hyaluspot will help it localize faster and pass with the least consequences. On average, you can get rid of a pimple in a day, plus a couple of days for signs of it.

On the other hand, the composition is quite aggressive, so you shouldn’t be overzealous (it can dry out thin and sensitive skin), but apply strictly to the pimple. It won’t get rid of the global acne problem, but for those who have one or two pimples from time to time, Hyaluspot can be a good and indispensable helper.

Vichy Normaderm Tri-Active Mask

I think that many of you are familiar with this type of product; several years ago they appeared in different price segments, but they are all more or less similar to each other. Vichy's Tri-Active also has a gel-clay base, which contains scrubbing particles and foams when lathered. Smells fresh and pleasant, no alcohol aroma.

When using the product as a mask, it dries out the skin a little, but does not tighten it, but it cleanses well, tightens pores and mattifies. It requires mandatory application of a moisturizer after yourself, since the clay here has a pronounced drying effect.

Scrubbing particles are medium-sized, round, non-traumatic, contained in average quantities. They exfoliate the upper stratum corneum of the skin quite well, polishing its surface, and lathers with massaging. Again, the skin feels matte and very smooth to the touch after use.

To use the product as a gel for washing, it is enough to take just a pea of ​​the product, lather it in your hands, and then apply the resulting foam to your face. The product washes off well and cleanses the skin quite well, but for me personally it would not be suitable for daily washing, since with frequent use it can noticeably dry out the skin.

Overall, a good multifunctional product that I liked to use 1-2 times a week as a mask/scrub.

Now about general impressions and results. By the time I started using Vichy Normaderm products, the lower part of my face was again blooming wildly, which was facilitated by the elimination of the use of cream with acids during periods of active sun, as well as the lack of a good cleansing.

In the first week of using Vichy Normaderm products, everything was very bad: the number of rashes only increased, many of them were quite deep and painful, the chin area was covered with a large number of bumps, under each of which, I knew, a dry pimple was hiding.

The second week was better than the first, but still bad. The rashes became smaller, but they began to move higher to the cheeks. On the other hand, they became more superficial and passed faster.

The third and fourth weeks evened out the situation, returning my skin to a more or less normal state, which, in fact, was what I expected. I knew in advance that Vichy Normaderm would not solve my problem (although, I admit, there was hope), especially since there is no truly active product in the line that can radically change the situation. I would call all these products good maintenance care, but to solve the problem of rashes it is worth turning to more effective methods.

Starting from the fifth week, I began to alternate the described products with my old favorites from other brands/series, so the condition began to improve, but clearly not due to the work of Normaderm.

Contrary to expectations (and before I started using it, I read a lot of reviews, many of which reported that this line was just terrible hell, spoiling the skin), alcohol-containing products did not dry out my skin, but my pores became noticeably narrower, and less sebum was produced.

Well, now to the visual. I took a photo before starting use, and also after a month (I used only these products, excluding all other care). In general, it’s difficult to notice any changes from the frontal photo (left – before, right – after):





There are a lot of marks left on the right cheek from small pimples, so it seems that it has gotten worse, but from the tactile sensations it is felt that the relief has become smoother (especially noticeable after applying makeup, when the skin is smooth):

In a word, it hasn’t gotten much better, although there’s no sign of any deterioration. I can conclude that Vichy Normaderm products are more suitable for people with oily and combination skin, who occasionally have rashes, and who are not particularly sensitive to alcohol. It will not solve serious skin problems.
