Causes of pink complexion

It is very unpleasant when your face is red at any time of the year and day: what to do, how to get rid of this external defect and return the natural color of the skin? You need to find out the cause - the disease underlying the redness - and treat it. Effective homemade face masks can also help.

Everyone knows this unpleasant feeling when blood rushes to the face, burning the skin. Most often, redness and a slight blush on the cheeks from shame and embarrassment or from frost quickly disappear. But there are situations when the skin of the face remains red for a very long time.

A person may not drink, not smoke, lead a healthy lifestyle, but for unknown reasons he always has a red face: what to do in such situations, how to get rid of such an unpleasant external cosmetic defect?

Since this syndrome is almost always one of the symptoms of some internal disease, first you need to find out the causes of unhealthy redness of the skin of the face.

Why is the face red: possible diseases

Without a medical examination, one can only guess why the face is red: only an experienced doctor can make an accurate diagnosis. Most often, this cosmetic defect is based on good reasons: the skin of the face cannot just turn red. There must be an explanation for everything. Provoking factors can be a variety of circumstances:

  1. acne: on the face there are alternating areas of healthy skin of normal color with red stripes and spots, dotted with small rashes, the cause of which may be adolescence or an allergic reaction to something
  2. rosacea: blood vessels may have impaired regulation of tone, so they can cause unpleasant redness of the face due to any external factors: sudden temperature changes, heat waves, abuse of spicy foods, cigarettes, coffee at the same time, the skin can peel off and even itch
  3. erythrophobia: a rare, but still existing disease of the nervous system, when a person experiences a pathological fear of the color red, is constantly afraid of blushing and... always invariably blushes in any situation that worries him
  4. hypertension: very often a red face is pressure, and increased pressure, when the blood vessels of the whole body, including the face, experience tension and stress
  5. medicinal blushing: the skin may turn red due to prolonged use of potent, quite powerful medications - the same antibiotics or contraceptives, for example
  6. menopause can also be the cause of redness of the skin of the face, because during this period there are so-called ebbs and flows, which are associated with the expansion and contraction of blood vessels
  7. carcinoid syndrome: a red face in this case is a very dangerous symptom, which may indicate the presence of a tumor in the gastrointestinal tract
  8. allergy: red face and itches - one of the sure signs of an allergic reaction
  9. pregnancy: the last weeks of bearing a baby are fraught with an increase in the load on the mother’s body, including on the blood vessels, so a red face during pregnancy is a typical feature of the last trimester of the interesting position in which women find themselves.

A red face can be such a dangerous symptom of a very serious disease: the causes are most often associated with impaired circulatory function and pathologies of blood vessels.

In order to accurately establish a diagnosis and undergo a course of treatment, you must first contact a good dermatological center, which will perform the necessary diagnostics and refer you to a more specialized specialist - an endocrinologist, cardiologist, therapist, allergist and even a psychotherapist (in the case of erythrophobia), who will prescribe appropriate treatment .

Without a therapeutic course, it is impossible to get rid of red face syndrome. You can only temporarily disguise this cosmetic defect, but only complete treatment of the underlying disease can restore your natural complexion forever. In some cases, not dictated by serious illnesses, the problem can be dealt with by contacting a beauty salon.

Salon treatments against red face

The modern beauty industry offers many techniques on how to get rid of a red face quickly and without residual effects. Of course, all procedures are quite expensive, but effective. Some of them guarantee a lasting effect for a long time, if it is harmless acne or rosacea.

If the cause is an internal disease, any professional cosmetologist will tell you that the effect of the procedure will be short-lived, since the root cause needs to be treated. Among the procedures you may be offered:

  1. cryomassage, which effectively exfoliates the reddened layer of facial skin using liquid nitrogen
  2. dermabrasion — a fairly aggressive method of skin polishing with special cutters, the procedure is very painful, must be carried out under anesthesia, but it is considered one of the most effective, it will relieve not only the red face syndrome, but also various rashes in the form of acne, pimples, blackheads
  3. electrocoagulation copes with redness caused by improper functioning of blood vessels, cauterizing the most problematic ones with electric current
  4. one of the latest developments in the field of salon cosmetology - laser coagulation problematic vessels, which are no longer affected by current, but by a long-wave laser.

After a course of such procedures (most often one is not enough), the red skin on the face gradually acquires a natural pale pink color. Provided that, in parallel with the cosmetic procedures, the patient underwent a course of treatment for the underlying disease, this syndrome can be eliminated forever. The therapeutic course can also be successfully combined with home care for problem skin if there is no confidence in salon procedures.

Recipes for masks for red faces

Some foods, herbs and cosmetic oils contain biologically active substances that have a beneficial effect on the condition of subcutaneous blood vessels. Therefore, based on them, you can make homemade masks for red faces that will soothe irritated skin and promote normal blood circulation.

Such masks should not be made often, so as not to harm the thin and sensitive facial skin. Twice a week will be enough. Before the procedure, be sure to steam your face and cleanse your skin with a scrub. The duration of action of such masks should not be long: a maximum of half an hour, optimally 15 minutes. It is better to rinse them with warm, even slightly cool water, because the condition of a red face can worsen under the influence of hot water.

Squeeze the juice out of the lemon to make 100 ml - you can add the zest directly. Dilute the resulting liquid in 100 ml of fresh milk at room temperature and in the same amount (100 ml) of filtered water. Mix everything thoroughly. You can wash your face with the resulting solution before going to bed you can soak a cotton pad in it to wipe problematic, reddened areas of your facial skin. Half an hour after washing and rubbing, rinse your face with plain water.

  1. Yeast + milk + lemon

Dilute regular dry yeast (about 20 g) with a small amount of milk to obtain a creamy consistency. Squeeze a teaspoon of juice from the lemon, add it to the milk-yeast mixture, mix everything thoroughly. Apply the first layer of the mask for 10 minutes, and then apply the second layer for another 10 minutes. Thanks to the yeast, the mixture dries quickly enough on the skin. This mask is especially good for oily and problematic faces.

Chop fresh parsley with a knife or in a blender to make a tablespoon. It’s great if the plant gives life-giving juice, which has a great effect on the tone of the subcutaneous blood vessels. Mix chopped parsley with two tablespoons of the richest sour cream you can find. With regular use of this mask (twice a week), your face will soon become white, clean, well-groomed, without a single pigment spot and, of course, without redness.

  1. Cottage cheese + grapefruit + yolk + vegetable oil

Heat any vegetable oil in a water bath to 35–40°C (no more, otherwise the yolk will curdle). Instead of vegetable oil, you can also use flaxseed, olive or sea buckthorn: they all have a whitening effect. After this, mix warm butter in the amount of one teaspoon with the fresh, fattest cottage cheese (you will need three tablespoons). Squeeze juice (50 ml) from grapefruit and add to the total mass, mixing everything thoroughly. Please note that store-bought juice from a box will not work: it contains too many additives that can only worsen the condition of already problematic skin. The last thing to be beaten into the mask is the raw yolk. The mass should be quite thick and very useful. It not only eliminates red face syndrome, but also copes well with vitamin deficiency, nourishing the skin with all the necessary substances: cottage cheese - calcium, grapefruit - ascorbic acid (vitamin C), yolk - lecithin, vegetable oil - tocopherol (vitamin E).

Peel a fresh, unstale cucumber (you need to remove it in a thin layer), crush all the seeds from it. Pass the pulp through a fine grater or blender. Use the resulting puree along with the resulting juice, which will be very beneficial for the blood vessels. Mix two tablespoons of this cucumber mass with fresh, very fatty cottage cheese in the same quantity (two tablespoons). Place cold-pressed natural olive oil to heat in a water bath to 45–50°C. Mix a teaspoon of warm oil with the cucumber-curd mass, beat thoroughly.

Boil fresh potatoes in their skins without salt, peel, mash with a fork until smooth, and let cool. At the same time, heat the cold-pressed natural olive oil in a water bath to 45–50°C. After bringing these products to a state of readiness, mix three tablespoons of mashed potatoes with one teaspoon of butter and one tablespoon of fatty, fresh (preferably homemade) sour cream.

  1. Lemon + oatmeal with milk

Cook the porridge in milk without adding salt from natural oat flakes (do not use instant cooking). Cool. Squeeze the juice from fresh lemon, mix it (50 ml) with two tablespoons of pre-prepared and cooled oatmeal.

Squeeze the juice from the lemon so that you get 50 ml. Grind the rice to a powder or use ready-made rice flour. Mix it in the amount of two tablespoons with juice.

  1. Aloe juice + yolk + rice flour

Store the lower leaves of aloe in the refrigerator for two weeks. After this period, squeeze out 50 ml of juice from them. Can be used together with pulp. Grind the rice to a powder or use ready-made rice flour. Mix aloe juice (50 ml), rice flour (two tablespoons), raw yolk.

Now you know that a constantly red complexion is far from the norm it is a symptom of one of the internal diseases that must be treated.

Cosmetic procedures and homemade masks should only be auxiliary techniques in the main course of therapy. This is the only way to regain your healthy, natural skin color and get rid of the uncomfortable feeling of an eternally flushed face.

Often a sign of a disorder in the body is an unhealthy complexion. Sometimes, in combination with this symptom and others, a professional doctor can make an accurate diagnosis, even without tests.

Viruses and bacteria in the human body release various substances into the blood, causing skin color to change. The shade is also affected by changes in the amount of some blood components. The skin may turn pale, yellow, red, blue and even green. Why does the complexion and sometimes the body change? What is this connected with?

Skin structure

The human protective cover contains two layers:

  1. Epidermis - the top layer consists of many cells. Some of them contain pigments (carotene, melanin, oxyhemoglobin, reducing hemoglobin). The color of the skin depends on the amount of certain substances.
  2. Dermis is the bottom layer. Consists of blood and lymphatic vessels. The presence of hemoglobin in the blood gives the skin a pink tint.

More about pigments:

Carotene is a pigment that gives the skin a yellowish tint. Representatives of the Mongoloid race have more of it than other people. If this component is missing, it can be obtained from drugs and food.

Melanin is a brown pigment. There is a lot of it on the skin of representatives of the Negroid race. Sometimes it can appear as freckles in white-skinned people. It is also the culprit behind the appearance of age spots.

Hemoglobin is a pink pigment responsible for oxygen in tissues. The coloring of the skin with this component depends on the number of vessels in it, their saturation with oxygen and not carbon dioxide (otherwise the skin will be red), and the thickness of the epidermis.

Other substances that affect skin coloring include:

Silver – gives the skin a bluish tint. It penetrates there after taking certain medications or when processing this metal.

Iodine – gives the face and body a yellow color when there is too much of it in the body.

Bilirubin is formed during the breakdown of red blood cells. Gives the skin a yellow color. Appears in the blood in some diseases.

Methemoglobin is a pigment formed when the structure of hemoglobin changes. The presence of this component is a sign of many disorders. When a person does not know why his lips turn blue, one should pay attention to the amount of this pigment.

Exposure to sunlight on hemoglobin, which is in the stage of transformation, causes darkening of the skin.

Diseases that provoke changes in complexion of the face and body

Before you start making diagnoses by looking at the faces of individual people, you should remember that not everyone is a purebred Caucasian. A healthy complexion among Europeans has a white-pink tint, sometimes with a slight admixture of yellowness. Any changes in the original skin color are nothing more than health problems.

List of causes and diseases:

There are several reasons for a sallow complexion:

  1. Lack of fluid in the body
  2. Alcohol abuse (about some people they say: “blackened”):
  3. Poor nutrition, namely: passion for fatty meat products
  4. Intestinal dysbiosis
  5. Thyroid diseases
  6. Oncological diseases
  7. AIDS
  8. Blood poisoning.

Another reason for a sallow complexion is usually called lack of sleep, but this statement is easy to refute, since in some people the skin turns pale or does not change color at all. In addition, sallow or, as people say, earthy complexion occurs in people who smoke, as well as in those who do not like walking in the fresh air. It should be noted that an earthy complexion with the latter option is an easily remediable problem.

Blue color

First of all, bluish skin indicates insufficient blood circulation. A person's face can take on the following shade:

  1. By cold
  2. For cardiovascular diseases
  3. For diseases of the respiratory organs
  4. After taking certain medications
  5. In the presence of silver salts in the skin and internal organs
  6. With a large amount of nitrates in the body.

Sometimes blue lips and skin are signs of diseases and incidents such as:

  1. Iron-deficiency anemia
  2. Gas poisoning
  3. Lack of oxygen in the blood
  4. Asthma attack
  5. Quincke's edema (in the throat area)
  6. Lung injuries.

The color of the skin of the hands can also tell a lot: if the hands change color, this indicates changes in the body. Purple swollen hands sign:

  1. Frostbite
  2. Venous insufficiency
  3. Hand injuries:
  4. Long-term use of alcohol
  5. Kidney failure.

Red spots on the hands may be a sign of:

  1. Allergies
  2. Frostbite
  3. Contact with chemicals.

Yellow skin color indicates human diseases such as:

  1. Hepatitis (A, B, C)
  2. Liver failure
  3. Cirrhosis of the liver
  4. Alagille syndrome (congenital liver pathology).

A yellow complexion can also appear if a person eats too many foods rich in carotene.

Yellow spots on the face

As a rule, they indicate:

  1. about gallbladder diseases
  2. about the failure of lipid metabolism
  3. about smoking
  4. about elevated cholesterol levels in the blood.

Quite rarely, the cause of spots is some facial care products.

Gray complexion and enlarged pores

Sometimes bad lumpy skin on the face is a sign of:

  1. intoxication of the body
  2. alcohol poisoning
  3. long-term drug use
  4. smallpox suffered in childhood
  5. improper care for oily skin.

White skin color was once considered fashionable, but at the moment it is a sign of diseases such as:

  1. Anemia
  2. Lack of certain vitamins
  3. Exhaustion
  4. Poisoning
  5. Toxicosis during pregnancy (sometimes the face acquires a greenish tint)
  6. Ectopic pregnancy
  7. Internal bleeding
  8. Fat embolism (blockage of veins with subcutaneous fat).

Another problem: dull complexion. It happens in people with unkempt skin or vitamin deficiency. Here are a number of other reasons why skin becomes dull:

  1. Poor quality cosmetics
  2. Alcohol
  3. Smoking
  4. Poor nutrition.

Skin can also become dull due to chronic lack of sleep (not for everyone), poisoning and lack of care.

If you observe your face, then any changes in its color should alert you, since they definitely have reasons that need to be eliminated. If your skin has become dull and acquired an earthy tint, you can try changing your diet, finally getting some sleep, and walking in the fresh air more often.

Olive, yellow, blue, white skin colors should be the reason for mandatory consultation with a doctor, especially if there are symptoms such as fever, vomiting, nausea, swelling, and difficulty breathing. Otherwise: everything may end in death or disability.

Everyone's skin is different. The color and condition of the skin is influenced by many factors: profession, nutrition, bad habits, lack of sleep, stress, sports, environment and even heredity. But the main factor skin color changes are acute and chronic diseases.

Diseases of the endocrine system, gastrointestinal tract and cardiovascular diseases are reflected in the appearance of the skin. Sometimes these diseases are reflected on the skin at the beginning of the disease, and in other cases - before its appearance, and then the necessary measures can be taken in time.

To recognize some of these signals you don’t even need special knowledge, you just need to look closely at the suffering person. Sometimes the mother senses problems with the child's health even before he begins to act up or has a fever. If the person sitting next to you on the plane suddenly turns green in the face, this means that he will soon have an attack of “air sickness,” despite the fact that he himself is not yet sick. In more cases, you cannot do without the help of a doctor.

What can you tell by the color of your skin? There are general patterns. In Chinese medicine, for example, among the “unhealthy colors” of the face there are indicators of pain (white, green and black), absence (white) and fullness (yellow and red). A person who suddenly turns pale is usually said to have no face. Each of these five colors refers to some organ and season of the year: the heart and the beginning of summer - red, the lungs and autumn - white, the kidneys and winter - black, the end of summer and the spleen - yellow, spring and liver - green.

Modern medicine considers diagnostics yellow, white, red, green and blue colors.

RED the color indicates overheating of the body as a result of fever and associated infectious diseases. It may also indicate carbon monoxide poisoning. Signals about heart and vascular disease.

WHITE, aka PALE, color warns of lung pathology, anemia, stroke or heart attack.

BLUE color occurs as a result of oxygen starvation and lung diseases. An earthy-gray face indicates gastrointestinal diseases, in particular constipation, while a dark face indicates kidney disease or bladder infection.

The most dangerous is GREEN complexion, it signals complications of gallstone disease and may even indicate liver cirrhosis or cancer.

Those with a face YELLOW color, suffer from diseases of the spleen, pancreas, liver, stomach, gall bladder.

Facial skin tones are also of great importance.

If yellow, orange or lemon colored skin, pay attention to the adrenal glands. The skin acquires this shade due to a lack of adrenal hormones. Seek help from an endocrinologist.

At white or pale skin tone you need to pay attention to metabolism, nutrition, blood composition, digestion, lungs, thyroid gland, cardiovascular system. The cause of pallor can be anemia (lack of hemoglobin in the blood), metabolic disorders, and digestive disorders when iron is poorly absorbed. Pallor can also result from a lack of thyroid hormones, low blood pressure, lung disease, inflammation of the heart muscle, aortic stenosis or left ventricular failure. Paleness can also appear from cold, fear, pain or swelling.

If red face, pay attention to body temperature, blood, cardiovascular system.

In case everything face turned red, need to:

- First of all, check the cardiovascular system, and also do a blood test. Redness on the face may occur due to problems with the heart, an increase in the number of red blood cells in the blood, or increased blood pressure

- possible carbon monoxide poisoning, fever due to an infectious disease, poisoning with alcohol, atropine, acetone or hallucinogenic drugs.

At bluish tint of facial skin pay attention to the cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Consult a cardiologist. This color indicates that there is not enough oxygen in the blood due to problems with the respiratory and cardiovascular systems. Diseases may include heart disease, pneumothorax, pulmonary emphysema, and thromboembolism. The face may turn blue even in a healthy person located high in the mountains.

Dark skin tone with a black tint speaks of problems with the genitourinary system. Visit your urologist to have your bladder and kidneys checked.

Gray complexionusually indicates digestive problems. Gastritis, constipation, problems with the stomach or intestines give a sallow-gray complexion to the face. Due to poor nutrition, complexion also deteriorates. A gastroenterologist will help you solve all these problems. Smoking and stress can also cause your skin to become gray.

If skin has a greenish tint, pay attention to the liver, gall bladder, oncology. Green color is no less dangerous than blue. It often indicates complications of gallstone disease, cirrhosis of the liver and even cancer. But you don’t need to be scared in advance it’s better to hurry up and get examined by a doctor. By the way, a greenish tint to the skin of a healthy person is caused by illumination with fluorescent lamps.
