Hematopoiesis Angioblastic

Angioblastic hematopoiesis is the process of formation of blood cells from angioblasts (precursors of endothelial cells of blood vessels).

In the embryonic period, hematopoiesis occurs in this way. Angioblasts located in the wall of the blood vessels of the yolk sac give rise to hemocytoblasts - the precursors of all blood cells. Hemocytoblasts migrate into the lumen of the vessel and differentiate into erythrocytes, leukocytes and platelets.

In the adult body, angioblastic hematopoiesis is retained only to a small extent. However, in some pathological conditions (leukemia), tumor blood cells can arise directly from the vessel wall due to angioblasts.

Thus, angioblastic hematopoiesis plays an important role in embryogenesis and in certain diseases of the blood system.
