Apricot method

The "Apricot method" is a classical histology method used to study tissues and cells under a microscope. It was developed by Russian pathologist Alexander Ivanovich Abrikosov at the end of the 19th century and became widespread in Soviet and Russian medicine.

Based on knowledge of anatomy and anatomical and topographical features of organs, Abrikosov proposed using certain areas of tissue for histological examination. He divided the tissue into layers corresponding to the anatomy

Abrikosov Georgy Lazarevich (Georgy Filippovich) was born on February 3, 1867 into a peasant family. After graduating from the Smolny boarding school, he became a student at the Faculty of Medicine at Moscow University. Here he received an invitation from the famous biologist K. A. Timiryazev to stay at the university for scientific research. Since 1912, Abrikosov was a professor at the Department of Anatomy at Moscow University, then a professor at the Department of Pathological Anatomy at the 2nd Moscow Medical Institute. He created outstanding works on comparative anatomy, embryology, histology, general and pathological histology. The organizer and first head of the pathological-anatomical institute of the 1st Moscow State University, who trained a galaxy of talented students and employees there. In his laboratory, Abrikosov's students were R. F. Bodyazhina, A. I. Abrikosova, and others. Selected works are devoted to various issues of pathological anatomy. Having trained more than 90 doctors and candidates of science, Abrikosov wrote several textbooks on pathological histology. For 12 years out of 43 months, Abrikosov worked as a consultant at the Moscow Clinical Institute for Sisters of Mercy, and in 1923 he was appointed professor of the department of normal anatomy and head of the educational department of the 1st Moscow Medical Academy (now named after I.M. Sechenov). Biography of Burangulov A.R., Candidate of Medical Sciences. Georgy Filippovich taught a course in human pathology, but he had trips to places to treat patients. For a number of years, Abrikosov taught students of the medical and veterinary faculties. Professor G.F. Abrikosov did not have a favorite form of presenting the material - a course or lecture; he preferred to read at any department on whatever topic the listener wanted, so students, as a rule, attended Georgy Filippovich's lectures. On the initiative of Abrikosov, the Moscow Society of Pathologists and Anatomists was organized, in whose work he actively participated. G.I. Chumakov, a student of G.F. Abrikosov, was the first head of the department of normal and pathologist in many years. Abrikosov had to see those who worked on
