Apricot tumor
Abrikosov E. N. (1880–1954) – domestic surgeon. In 1907, he published his scientific research, in which he proposed dissecting the rectus abdominis muscle in order to separate the purulent process in lymphogranulomatosis of the subphrenic space from the pelvic cavity. In one of his latest studies, the surgeon proposed a combination of his method with the one proposed by Schatz - the omentohepagostomy method. A.E. Neimark's research concerned the relationship between abdominal tumors and the pelvic organs, and his works had a huge impact on the practice of many surgeons.
In his article “Apricot tumor,” he examined the relationship between the occurrence of metastases in various forms of lymphoma in the subdiaphragmatic space. This disease belongs to a group of malignant tumors, which includes the development of a number of specific forms of cancer.
Massive spread of lymphogranulomas is not their characteristic feature. Apricot E.I. associated the occurrence of metastases with intraperitoneal lymphatic metastasis of granulomatous gastric cancer. The author explained that tumors of this type do not cause extensive metastasis by the anatomical, topographical and histological features of the macroscopic structure of the lymphatic tract, combined with localization in the gastric wall of the thymus. Based on the results of a biopsy of the operated edges of the tumor, the scientist revealed the existence in the wall of the stomach of glands of a rough tubular structure that are capable of secreting lymph granules.
