Advantan: an effective treatment for eczema and contact dermatitis
Advantan is a drug that belongs to the group of drugs with glucocorticosteroid activity. It is available in several dosage forms, including ointment, emulsion and cream, which contain the active substance methylprednisolone aceponate.
Advantan is used to treat various types of eczema, including exogenous (for example, atopic dermatitis and neurodermatitis), seborrheic, contact, anal, occupational, dyshidrotic and common coin. Additionally, it can be used to treat contact dermatitis. The drug is not recommended for use for tuberculosis or syphilitic processes on the skin, viral infections, rosacea and perioral dermatitis.
In rare cases, after using Advantan, local reactions may occur, such as itching, burning, erythema and blistering, as well as folliculitis, hypertrichosis and allergic reactions. The interaction of the drug with other drugs has not been studied.
In case of excessively long and/or intensive local use of Advantan, the development of superficial skin atrophy (thinning of the skin, stretch marks) and the appearance of telangiectasia are possible. Therefore, it is necessary to follow the recommended doses and duration of treatment. It is not recommended to use Advantan on large areas of skin or on the face.
When using the drug, it is necessary to avoid getting it into the eyes. Physiotherapeutic procedures are also not recommended during treatment with Advantan.
