Follow the directions of city leaders. 1. Try to determine where you are and find your family members. 2. If a small fire occurs, try to extinguish it yourself until help arrives. 3. Do not use open fire or matches to light the room. Do not smoke. 4. Provide first aid to the injured and help people get out of the rubble. 5. When cleaning up the house, remember that there may be animals under the rubble. A frightened animal may attack you. 6. When passing near a destroyed house, make sure it is safe. Avoid fallen power lines and trees, and beware of debris falling from destroyed structures. 7. Do not create obstructions on the paths. 8. If water gets into the area where the main electrical switch is located, do not turn it on until it has been checked by a professional. 9. Be aware that water may be contaminated by sewage and other substances. Do not use your regular source of drinking water until it has been tested and officially notified that it is safe to drink. Any food that ends up in contaminated water should be thrown away, including what was in the refrigerator, kitchen cabinets, boxed foods, and bottled drinks. Never walk on contaminated surfaces without appropriate footwear. Each contaminated room must undergo thorough treatment and disinfection. If you receive a wound while putting things in order, disinfect and bandage even a minor wound, since the possibility of infection in this case is very high. Seek medical attention if signs of infection appear.
