Akopdzhanyan Symptom

Hakobjanyan symptom

Akopdzhanyan symptom is a neurological symptom described by the Soviet neurologist A.T. Akopdzhanyan.

The symptom is the appearance of pain in the shoulder joint during passive movements in it. The pain intensifies with extension of the forearm, abduction outwards and with external rotation.

Akopdzhanyan's symptom is characteristic of damage to the suprascapular nerve and indicates neuritis or neuralgia of this nerve. The causes may be injuries to the shoulder girdle, inflammatory diseases of the joints, tumors in the neck and shoulder area.

Thus, the appearance of pain in the shoulder during passive movements of the joint may indicate damage to the suprascapular nerve. Akopdzhanyan's symptom helps the doctor make the correct diagnosis and prescribe adequate treatment.

AKOPJANYAN SYMPTOM

Akopdzhanyan symptom (symptom) is a pathological symptom of neurology, which is manifested by an increased pain response to clenching the teeth. Synonym: “crooked mouth.”

The prevalence of this symptom is not reliably known. Studies show that it is detected with a high probability in 86% of patients with migraine aura, while in patients without migraine the symptom occurs 3 times less often. Akopdzhanyan considers it important to have an accentuation of emotional response in the precephalic region of the brain [1].

However, it should be noted that at present, when pain occurs in the head, face, neck (including when the pain is accompanied by a headache or a typical photo-background aura), the most appropriate diagnostic method is MRI of the brain (standard). The presence of asymmetry in the sympathetic and parasympathetic regulation of peripheral circulatory functions does not allow us to reliably state the presence or absence of Akopyan’s symptom. Perhaps it makes sense to consider the question only of the degree of manifestation of the symptom, which indirectly indicates local vasospasm on the part of the MPO. However, it is now generally accepted that when cerebral manifestations occur, a comprehensive clinical evaluation using modern imaging techniques is appropriate.

Hakobjanyan symptom or syndrome is a set of signs that are observed in patients with head and spinal column injuries as a result of traumatic brain injury, accident, or osteochondrosis. Characterized by loss of consciousness, dizziness and incoordination, nausea, vomiting and memory loss. If Akopdzhanyan's symptom is observed on both sides, this means that not only intracranial hemorrhage is possible, but also other damage, such as a ruptured artery or brain contusion. It is important to know how to make a correct diagnosis and promptly identify the presence of a symptom during an accident. It is important to see a doctor immediately to avoid more serious consequences.
