Indications for use Anesthesia (infiltration and conduction) in dentistry for tooth extraction, filling a cavity, grinding teeth for a crown.
Contraindications Hypersensitivity, paroxysmal tachycardia, tachyarrhythmia, bronchial asthma, angle-closure glaucoma, concomitant use of non-selective beta-blockers, severe liver failure, porphyria, intravascular injections, hyperthyroidism, concomitant use of MAO inhibitors or tricyclic antidepressants, central nervous system diseases, pernicious anemia.
Side effects From the nervous system and sensory organs: headache; There may be cases of impaired consciousness, even loss of consciousness; breathing problems, even stopping; muscle twitching and tremors, convulsions; rarely - blurred vision, diplopia, transient blindness. From the cardiovascular system and blood (hematopoiesis, hemostasis): rarely - arterial hypotension, tachycardia, bradycardia, depression of cardiovascular activity. From the respiratory system: dyspnea, apnea. side of the gastrointestinal tract: nausea, vomiting. Allergic reactions: rhinitis, skin hyperemia, itching, angioedema, swelling and inflammation at the injection site; rarely - anaphylactic shock.
Interaction The hypertensive effect can be enhanced by tricyclic antidepressants and MAO inhibitors. The drug should not be prescribed during treatment with non-selective beta-blockers due to the high risk of developing a hypertensive crisis and severe bradycardia.
Overdose Symptoms: dizziness, motor restlessness, impaired consciousness. Treatment: place the patient in a horizontal position, intravenous administration of barbiturates or benzodiazepines for sedation; carrying out measures to maintain breathing and the cardiovascular system; symptomatic treatment depending on the symptoms present.
Method of administration and dosage The dosage of the drug is determined individually depending on the age, weight, physical condition of the patient, the nature and extent of the operation. Typically, for adults and children over 12 years of age, 1-2 carpules of the drug are prescribed (1 carpule contains a 2% solution of articaine hydrochloride and 1:100,000 epinephrine) per operation. Children from 4 to 12 years old are prescribed 0.3-0.5 ml of the drug per 1 kg of body weight, but not more than 2 carpules per operation.
Special instructions When using the drug, it is necessary to constantly monitor the patient’s condition, monitor the function of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, and also ensure the availability of medications and equipment for resuscitation. If allergic reactions or other side effects occur, you should immediately stop using the drug and carry out appropriate treatment. The drug cannot be used for epidural anesthesia and intravenous injections.
Storage conditions The drug is stored at a temperature of 15 to 25 degrees Celsius out of the reach of children. Shelf life - 2 years. After opening the ampoule, the drug must be used within 24 hours.
