Amlotop

Amlotop is a drug belonging to the group of calcium channel blockers of the dihydropyridine group. Its active ingredient is amlodipine, which is used to treat arterial hypertension and angina pectoris.

Amlotop is produced by the Russian pharmaceutical company Makiz-Pharma and is available in the form of tablets with dosages of 5 mg and 10 mg. It is also known under the international name amlodipine and has several synonyms, such as Agen, Acridipine, Amlovas, Aronar, Vero-Amlodipine, Kalchek, Cardilopin, Corvadil, Norvadin, Norvasc, Normodipine, Omelar cardio, Stamlo and Tenox.

Amlotop is used for the treatment of arterial hypertension, stable and vasospastic angina (Prinzmetal), including in patients resistant to therapy with nitrates or beta-blockers. However, the drug has contraindications, such as hypersensitivity, arterial hypotension (less than 90 mm Hg), shock, acute myocardial infarction. It is also not recommended to use Amlotop in cases of severe aortic stenosis, heart failure, liver dysfunction and childhood.

Side effects that may occur when using Amlotop may include facial flushing, palpitations, arrhythmias, hypotension (including orthostatic), fatigue, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, asthenia, mood changes, visual disturbances, peripheral edema (swelling of the ankles and feet), increased frequency of urination, impotence, nausea, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, changes in bowel movements, jaundice, shortness of breath, arthralgia, myalgia, paresthesia and pain in the extremities (with long-term use), rashes, itching, erythema multiforme, gingival hyperplasia, gynecomastia and elevated liver enzymes.

When using Amlotop, it is necessary to take into account its interaction with other drugs. The drug is compatible with the main groups of antihypertensive drugs (diuretics, ACE inhibitors, beta-blockers), nitrates and hypoglycemic drugs. However, inhalational anesthetics (hydrocarbon derivatives), amiodarone, quinidine, macrolide antibacterial drugs, antifungal drugs (ketoconazole, itraconazole), antiviral drugs (ritonavir) and some other drugs can increase the level of amlodipine in the blood, which can lead to an increase in its actions and possible side effects. Therefore, before taking Amlotop, you should consult your doctor and inform about all the medications you are taking.

The dosage of Amlotop may vary depending on the individual characteristics of the patient and the nature of the disease. It is usually recommended to start with a dose of 5 mg once daily, which can be increased to 10 mg daily depending on the effect and tolerability of the drug. Taking tablets does not depend on food intake and is best taken at the same time of day.

In general, Amlotop is an effective and relatively safe drug for the treatment of arterial hypertension and angina pectoris, but requires careful medical supervision and compliance with the instructions for use.
