Blasto-

Blasto- (from the Greek blastós - sprout) is a prefix that is used in biology and medicine to indicate the beginning of the development of an organism. It indicates that we are talking about a period when the body is just beginning its development and has not yet reached full development.

For example, the word “blastocyst” means the germ cell that is formed as a result of the division of an egg. The “blastoderm” is a layer of cells that forms on the surface of the egg and begins to develop into an embryo.

In medicine, blastocytes are used to treat cancer. They are obtained from the umbilical cord of humans or animals and then cultivated under special conditions. Blastocytes can be used to create anti-cancer drugs that will fight cancer cells.

Thus, blasto is an important part of biology and medicine, which helps us better understand the processes of development of the body and find new ways to treat diseases.
