Malignant angiofibroma is a rare benign neoplasm arising from connective tissue. Most often localized in the nasopharynx and base of the skull.
It is characterized by infiltrative growth into surrounding tissues with damage to the bones of the base of the skull. It develops mainly in men aged 10 to 30 years.
Clinically manifested by unilateral nasal congestion, nosebleeds, and headaches. Upon examination, a tumor-like formation is detected in the nasopharynx area.
Diagnosis is based on CT and MRI data, and puncture biopsy. Treatment is surgical to remove the tumor. The prognosis is favorable with radical removal. Relapses are possible.
