Ankylosis Extra-articular

Extra-articular ankylosis is a condition in which a joint cannot move.

The term "ankylosis" comes from the Latin word "ankylosis", which means "without participation", that is, without active participation of the joint. For example, if you have more than 140 degrees of elbow flexion, your joint is considered to be affected by carpal tunnel syndrome. Every time you bend and relax it, it begins to compress more and more because the muscle and tendons do not allow it to return to its original position. Over time, a joint can become stuck in a "dislocated" state, and this is called ankylosis.
