Antisystole

Antesystole is a disturbance of the heart rhythm in which premature excitation of the ventricles of the heart occurs.

With antesystole, premature contraction of the ventricles of the heart occurs after the atria, without waiting for the end of their systole. This leads to disruption of the coordination of the atria and ventricles.

Normally, excitation from the atria enters the ventricles through the atrioventricular node after the end of atrial systole. During antesystole, this process is disrupted - the ventricles contract prematurely.

The causes of antesystole can be different - myocardial ischemia, intoxication, electrolyte imbalance, taking certain medications.

Diagnosis of antesystole is based on ECG data, which records the characteristic appearance of the QRS complex, not associated with the preceding P wave.

Treatment of antesystole is aimed at eliminating the causes that caused this rhythm disturbance, as well as restoring normal conduction of impulses in the heart with the help of antiarrhythmic drugs.
