Aortitis Tuberculous

Tuberculous aortitis

This is an infectious and inflammatory disease that affects the walls of the ascending aorta and is accompanied by atrophic changes in the walls of all its parts in response to chronic vascular obliteration. The main signs of the disease are narrowing of the distal aorta, weakening of the pulse and systolic murmur over the entire region of the heart. The diagnosis is made on the basis of bacteriological studies of mucous samples and blood tests for tuberculin tests. Emergency treatment of tuberculous aortitis consists of the use of antibacterial drugs and therapy for compression of the aorta.
