What is problem skin

From the point of view of classical dermatology, problem skin is the skin. with problems. Initially, dry, oily and combination skin types were considered as such.

Dry skin has a catastrophic lack of sebum, which causes:

Oily and combination skin, on the contrary, produces sebum in excess, which can lead to problems such as:

Today, cosmetics manufacturers call oily and combination skin types “problematic.” We will adhere to this point of view.

How do cleansers work?

To be effective, they need contact with water.

By mixing the product with water and foaming it, we remove dirt, dust, and particles of fat from the face, and cleanse the pores.

Then all this must be washed off.

Cleansers contain two main groups of cleansing components.

  1. Substances that dissolve fat and attach dirt. These include all types of so-called Surfactant (surfactants).
  2. Exfoliants: acids (glycolic, lactic, salicylic) and abrasive particles.

It is surfactants that cope with the task of cleansing especially well: they form thick foam, give a feeling of freshness and cleanliness, but some of them are unsafe. These are primarily sodium lauryl sulfate and ammonium lauryl sulfate. They act too aggressively, damaging the hydrolipidic mantle of the skin, which can cause dryness and flaking, causing dehydration and premature aging.

To reduce the concentration of surfactants, manufacturers use combinations of them. Or they use softer substances, for example, based on amino acids.

Types of funds

An effective cleanser for oily and combination problem skin should thoroughly cleanse and combat imperfections without damaging the hydrolipid mantle of the skin.

The following products are intended for use when washing your face.

Penetrating deep into the pores, it perfectly cleanses the skin of fat and impurities. However, it can disrupt the lipid barrier, which can lead to dryness and irritation. Caring components such as vegetable oils, extracts, minerals, vitamins, and dietary supplements will help reduce risks to a minimum.

Foam

The same gel, just in a different form. Thanks to the technologically advanced packaging with a dispenser, the product foams already at the moment of application, which allows for the most gentle cleansing.

Despite the weightless texture, it copes well with dirt. Suitable for sensitive problem skin.

Hydrophilic oil

This product entered our beauty arsenal in the wake of the passion for the Asian skin care system, in particular two-step cleansing. Hydrophilic oil also acts in two stages.

It is distributed over dry facial skin with massage movements to dissolve dirt, fat and decorative cosmetics.

How to choose a cleanser for problem skin

Proper cleansing is the key to healthy skin, dermatologists convince us. Therefore, the process of choosing a product must be taken with full responsibility. First of all, you need to take into account your skin type, its problems and needs.

Oily problem skin

Oily shine, clogged pores, blackheads, pimples are found all over the face.

Oily problem skin is less sensitive to surfactants; it is important to cleanse it thoroughly. Antibacterial, drying, and fat-regulating substances are useful:

Combination problem skin

In the T-zone, the skin is oily, prone to shine and imperfections. And in the U-zone it is dry, prone to flaking. Requires complex care.

For the T-zone, a 3-in-1 product is suitable, which combines:

cleansing properties of washing gel;

abrasive particles for optimal cleansing of pores;

components for the prevention of blackheads and pimples.

For the U-zone, foam with moisturizing and caring components is preferable:

blackcurrant oil;

  1. Julia Borodina May 15, 11:51 L’OREAL is the most adequate option in terms of price and quality. Firstly, problematic skin cannot be exfoliated, so Garnier 3-in-1 is not the best option. Secondly, acids and extracts in cleansers are applied to the skin for 1 minute, this is useless. You will find the same substances in leave-in creams and ointments that will be truly effective.
  2. Olga April 12, 19:18 I have been using face care cosmetics and decorative cosmetics from the L'Oreal brand for a very long time. The cleanser and toner from the absolute tenderness series are very suitable for my skin type! I buy creams from different series, depending on the weather. They are absorbed very quickly, without leaving a film !Telescopic mascara is the coolest! Eyelashes like false ones! My favorite is also CREAM lip gloss number 110, it is not noticeable on the lips and does not stick! Eye shadows, eyebrow and eye pencils and of course nail polishes. Do you love L’OREAL?

your skin

An eternal problem: how to wash your face if you have oily, inflammation-prone skin? I prefer drugstore washes. I'll tell you why.

I've been living with problem skin since I was 12 years old (I'm 31 now). We tried a lot of things, good and bad, effective and empty. I haven't completely conquered acne, but now I know how to keep it under control. And the basic step in my care is proper washing. Without it, in fact, everything else either will not work 100% or will not work at all.

Of the various skin cleansing systems, I settled on cleansing gels, and I have three requirements for them:

  1. the gel should cleanse the skin well, leaving behind a feeling of freshness and cleanliness;
  2. the gel should not dry out the skin;
  3. the gel must contain antibacterial components.

Most often, these requirements are met by pharmacy gels, and I want to talk about my two favorites today.

These are Cetaphil deep cleansing gel for oily and combination skin and Baziron gel for reducing oily skin.

Cetaphil Deep Cleansing Gel Cleanser

Price 812 rubles.

Transparent, colorless gel with a neutral, non-perfume, slightly medicinal odor. Quite thick. A large drop the size of a fingernail is enough for washing. Foams very well, completely washes away sebum and cosmetic residues (which must be washed off with micellar water or other special products). I don't use foundation or anything like that. products that need to be applied to the entire face. Mascara, shadows and eyebrow marker float away into the sink from the warm water and gel like little ones.

After washing with this gel, your skin feels fresh and clean. Does not dry or irritate the skin.

The detergents in the gel are mostly soft; SLS is far from the first place in the composition. I don’t really understand what it has an antibacterial effect, but there is definitely something there. Phenoxyethanol.

I started using this gel after using a couple of “Crown of Siberia” brand cleansing products. I liked them at first and captivated me with their softness, you know, when you seem to have washed your face, but your skin looks as if it had already washed itself and already applied cream? Afterwards it really came back to haunt me with rashes and black pores. But as soon as I switched to Cetaphil, my skin became noticeably clearer, darkened pores became lighter, and acne began to slowly but surely disappear from my face. I note that I used the previous washing gels together with the pharmaceutical gel "Baziron", but on insufficiently cleansed skin it did not work as it should!

By the way, I bought Cetaphil because a cosmetologist once recommended it to me as “an excellent antiseptic for the face.” Like many existing pharmacy cosmetics series, the Cetaphil brand initially specialized in antiseptic products, in particular for intimate hygiene, and was prescribed, for example, by gynecologists as part of the treatment of certain STDs. This captivates me.

Gel wash "Baziron Control" for problem skin

Transparent reddish gel. The consistency is medium, slightly less thick than Cetaphil. The smell contains both a perfume scent and a medicinal aroma. It foams well, and a large drop the size of a fingernail is enough for a complete wash.

It also effectively washes off everything it can (it’s better to wipe off foundations and other coatings in advance with micellar water or something similar), just like the previous product. After washing, it leaves a feeling of cleanliness, freshness, and slight coolness (there is a cooling effect - it contains menthol). Doesn't dry out or irritate.

The composition is already more interesting than that of Cetaphil. There is aloe extract, zinc, yeast extract (Faex extract), and horse chestnut extract (Aesculus hippocastanum extract). The detergent is soft, not SLS.

This is probably why the Baziron gel works better than Cetaphil. No, the first cleansing gel is also good, but there is no limit to perfection, is there?

If when using Cetaphil cleansing gel, acne disappeared from the face slowly, then when using Baziron, they are generally rare guests on the face. I can only use this gel for washing and moisturizing face cream (not a medicinal one, but just a moisturizing cream from the series for problem skin - now this is MIXIT Solution, for example) and have simply wonderful skin. During periods of hormonal transitions, I add pharmaceutical gel "Baziron", which contains benzoyl peroxide, and the skin is 100% clear.

Initially, the Galderma brand only had the medicinal anti-acne gel "Baziron" in various dosages. The appearance of a series of other products in this case is an extremely successful marketing move. Largely due to the fact that the manufacturer does not just ride on a well-known name, but actually thinks through the composition of its products. The cleansing gel is extremely successful. If I had to choose what to buy for the second time, I would buy Baziron. Moreover, the brand has very attractive promotions when, when purchasing a medicinal product, a wash or other product is included as a gift.

Wash yourself correctly and you will have beautiful and clean skin!

The face is the most open, therefore the most vulnerable part of the human body. That is why we pay so much attention to caring for this area, we try to keep the skin in the best condition, we use protective, cleansing and healthy-looking products. Usually, a washing gel is selected empirically, but we decided to help you a little. The rating of the best washing gels presents the most effective products for different types of facial skin, providing high-quality cleansing of the epidermis and gentle care.

Gels as opposed to foams, creams, lotions, etc. have a gel-like consistency. They foam easily in wet palms or using a mesh. The effectiveness of the product depends on how well the manufacturer has selected a “cocktail” of surfactants (cleaners) and additional caring components (oils, fruit acids, plant extracts, etc.). It is also important how well the composition of the wash matches your skin type.

The best manufacturers of washing gels

Cleansing gel is a basic skin care product that is found in most facial care series of various brands. Conventionally, three groups of gels can be distinguished:

Pharmacy. The most popular are products from the brands Vichy, Avene, La Roche-Posay, Bioderma, Uriage, CeraVe. As a rule, they are dermatologically tested, hypoallergenic, fragrance-free, and often have not only a cosmetic, but also a therapeutic effect. The prices for such products are high, but the result lives up to expectations. If your skin has pronounced problems, welcome to the pharmacy.

Professional. Representatives of salon cosmetics can cause both delight and disappointment, since they are not cheap, and their effectiveness is not always the best. However, several brands caught our attention: Christina, Janssen, Holy Land - reviews of the gels for washing these forms are mostly positive. Korean washing gels occupy a special niche (in our rating this is the COSRX brand) - they are invariably praised for their high quality and reasonable price.

Mass market. In this category, the range of washing gels is large, as is the price range. There are many domestic and foreign brands represented, choosing from which is not an easy task. Let’s just say that gels from the “mass market” category may well suit the skin without significant problems. Even budget washbasins do their main task well. You just need to make sure that they do not dry out the epidermis.
