Arteritis is an inflammatory disease of the arterial vessels.

The term "arteritis" was first coined by Denes in 1936 to refer to inflammatory lesions of the aorta in people with advanced pulmonary aneurysm. Arteritis is a rare disease characterized by the formation of areas of persistent inflammatory infiltration
