The femoral head artery - (lat. a. capitis femoris medialis) - is a large artery in the human body, passes through the middle part of the femur and supplies oxygen to the head and upper part of the femoral muscle.

Its origin is from the great lumbar artery. It descends along the posterior wall of the femoral canal and anastomoses with the external genital and tendons of the femoral muscles, then enters the bone hole directly in the area of the lower edge of the neck, from where it continues as the femoral canal (descends to the anterior surface of the body of the femoral head) and continues into the common femoral canal. Branches: splanchnic and muscular arteries of the thigh.
