Azaleptin: description of the drug and its use

Azaleptin is a drug belonging to the group of antipsychotics, dibenzodiazepine derivatives. It contains clozapine as an active substance, which is the international name of the drug. Azaleptin is produced in Russia by Organika and is available in the form of tablets of various dosages, substance, granules for children and granules for the preparation of an oral suspension for children.

Azaleptin has a wide range of uses in psychiatry. It is prescribed for the treatment of acute and chronic forms of schizophrenia, manic states, manic-depressive psychosis, various psychotic conditions, psychomotor agitation in psychosis, aggression and sleep disorders.

However, before using Azaleptin, you need to pay attention to contraindications and possible side effects. The drug should not be used for diseases of the hematopoietic system, alcoholic and toxic psychoses, myasthenia gravis, pregnancy and lactation (except for cases where interruption of treatment may cause more harm than its continuation during breastfeeding).

Possible side effects of Azaleptin include muscle weakness, drowsiness, confusion, dry mouth, accommodation paresis, tachycardia, decreased blood pressure, dizziness, flattening of the T wave on the ECG, hyperthermia of central origin, exacerbation of chronic and latent foci of infection, granulocytopenia.

You should also consider possible interactions of Azaleptin with other drugs. The drug may enhance the effect of sedatives, narcotics, analgesics and hypnotics, and alcohol. It also weakens the effect of levodopa, and absorption from the intestine is impaired when taking antacids and cholestyramine.

In case of an overdose of Azaleptin, symptoms such as tachycardia, bradycardia, heart rhythm disturbances, hallucinations, anxiety, drowsiness, and difficulty breathing may appear. In such cases, you must immediately call an ambulance.

Azaleptin should be used with limited use in severe diseases of the liver, kidneys and cardiovascular system, with an increased tendency to seizures, epilepsy, closed-angle glaucoma, prostatic hypertrophy, intestinal atony, interstitial diseases and old age.

Despite all of the above possible limitations and side effects, Azaleptin is an effective drug for the treatment of various mental disorders. However, its purpose and dosage should be determined only by a doctor, who takes into account the individual characteristics of the patient and his state of health. Patients should also follow the doctor's recommendations regarding taking the drug and not exceed the recommended dosage.
