Azaran is a drug from the group of third-generation cephalosporins, produced in Yugoslavia by the Hemofarm concern A.D. and has the international name Ceftriaxone. The drug is available in powder form for the preparation of injection solutions of various dosages.

Azaran is widely used to treat various infections caused by bacteria, including infections of the respiratory tract, genitourinary organs, skin and soft tissues, joints, abdominal organs, bacterial meningitis and endocarditis, chancroid and syphilis, Lyme disease, typhoid fever, salmonellosis and salmonella carriage, as well as for the prevention of postoperative infectious complications.

Despite the effectiveness of the drug, Azaran has a number of contraindications and can cause side effects. Contraindications for use include hypersensitivity to the drug, hepatic-renal failure, a history of bleeding and gastrointestinal diseases, as well as pregnancy and lactation. Side effects may include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, taste disturbances, allergic reactions and others.

The interaction of Azaran with other drugs also requires special attention. For example, an increase in the effect of aminoglycosides may occur when combined with Azaran, and incompatibility with other antimicrobial agents may lead to pharmaceutical incompatibilities.
