Bacillus Anthrax

Anthrax bacilli (lat. Bacillus anthracis) are gram-positive, strictly anaerobic spore-forming rods measuring 0.8-1.5x10-3-4x10 microns in length and width. They do not form spores in smears. The cells are very thick, long, narrow and curved (toward), arranged randomly. The cell wall is relatively thick and covered with layers of pili (more visible with Romanowsky-Giemsa stain).
