Bacillaemia

Bacillaemia is the presence of rod-shaped bacteria in the bloodstream due to any infectious human disease.

Bacillemia occurs when bacteria enter the bloodstream and begin to actively multiply there. This can occur with various infectious diseases caused by rod-shaped bacteria, such as salmonellosis, listeriosis, tuberculosis and others.

With bacillemia, bacteria circulate throughout the body through the bloodstream, spreading the infection. This is a very dangerous condition that can lead to sepsis, septic shock and even death.

Diagnosis of bacillemia is carried out by taking a blood test and inoculating it on nutrient media. If growth of rod-shaped bacteria is detected, a diagnosis of bacillemia is made.

Treatment consists of prescribing antibiotics, to which bacteria isolated from the blood are sensitive. It is important to begin adequate antibiotic therapy as quickly as possible to suppress bacterial growth and prevent the development of complications. At the same time, treatment is carried out for the underlying disease that caused the bacillemia.

The prognosis for bacillemia can be serious, especially with late diagnosis and inadequate therapy. Timely treatment in most cases leads to recovery.

Bacillemia or bacteremia is the presence of rod-shaped bacteria in the human blood. Bacteremia can occur in a variety of diseases, but is most often a symptom of diseases such as sepsis and meningitis.

During its life, the bacterium releases toxic substances that can penetrate the blood and cause intoxication of the body. In addition, bacteria can cause the development of purulent processes and other complications.

To treat a bacterial infection, antibiotics are used, which are selected individually for each patient. Depending on the severity of the patient's condition, the course of treatment can last from several days to several weeks.

It is important to remember that self-medication is unacceptable, as this can lead to serious consequences. At the first symptoms of the disease, you must consult a doctor to make an accurate diagnosis and prescribe the necessary treatment.

In medicine, there are many diseases caused by bacterial infections. Among them is a rare but dangerous disease called “Bacilemia”. What kind of disease is this?

Bacillemia is the presence of rod bacteria (for example, salmonella, shigella) in human blood caused by an infectious disease. This term was introduced at the beginning of the 20th century by the Austrian pediatrician A. Netsch and became entrenched in European medicine.

The most common infection that causes bacillemia is typhoid fever. This disease is acute and begins asymptomatically or with mild symptoms: headache, nausea, vomiting, pain in muscles and joints. The danger of the disease lies in the fact that the number of typhoid bacilli in the blood increases sharply, and therefore the body’s reaction may develop, manifested in the form of an enlargement of the spleen and liver to gigantic sizes. With prolonged hyperthermia and severe dehydration, typhoid coma develops - a condition characterized by impaired consciousness due to damage to the central nervous system and peripheral nervous system. Typhoid bacilli, when they multiply in the intestines, release a large amount of toxin, which penetrates the blood and affects almost all organ systems of the human body, the liver and kidneys suffer the most. The mortality rate for this disease is more than 30%.

Another cause of bacillemia is Escherichia coli. It develops mainly in people at high risk: older people or people with a disease associated with impaired renal function. E. coli can appear as a result of violation of hygiene rules.
