Bacteremia (bacteremic syndrome) is a syndrome characterized by the presence of a large number of microorganisms in the circulation and the presence of signs of an infectious-inflammatory process.

Bacteremia is characterized by bacterial contamination of the blood in quantities sufficient to activate the immune system and the development of infectious manifestations in the absence of a focus of infection or any “classical” infectious manifestations [4] (for example, signs of inflammatory diseases of the bladder or biliary tract, inflammatory changes in the analysis urine and so on).
