Ballistocardiography Dynamic

Dynamic ballistocardiography (syn. dynamoballistocardiography) is a method of graphically recording the movements of the heart and large vessels, based on recording the accelerations that occur during heart contraction and blood movement through the vessels.

With dynamic ballistocardiography, accelerations resulting from the shock interaction of the blood flow with the walls of the heart and blood vessels are recorded. To do this, a special accelerometer sensor is placed on the chest in the projection of the heart, which records accelerations during heart contractions. The resulting record - a dynamocardiogram - reflects the characteristics of the movements of various parts of the heart and blood vessels.

Analysis of a dynamocardiogram allows one to evaluate the contractile function of the myocardium, identify rhythm and conduction disturbances, and also obtain information about the state of the valvular apparatus of the heart. Dynamic ballistocardiography is used to diagnose various heart diseases, including coronary heart disease, cardiomyopathies, defects, etc.
