Moisturizing and nourishing are not all that skin care products can do for your skin. It’s good when formulas can also protect her, because the environment sometimes poses a serious threat to her health and beauty. Take solar exposure, for example. On the one hand, a light tan gives the face freshness and a healthy color. On the other hand, ultraviolet rays cause photoaging, provoke hyperpigmentation and other things that are unpleasant for the skin. Therefore, more and more decorative cosmetics with SPF are appearing. And we're not just talking about foundations that are distributed all over the face. Today we will talk about lip cosmetics, in particular about balms with SPF 15, 20, 30 and 50.

Why do you need lip balms with SPF protection?

We have already talked about what should be in a cosmetic bag in the summer. But even when we use Sunscreen while sunbathing on the beach, our lips are most often left without covering. But this is thin and delicate skin, which needs protection not least. Balms with SPF are ready to provide this.

Lipsticks with SPF also exist, but having a sun balm is much more important, because most girls wear bright lipstick only on special occasions. A colorless balm with SPF can be “worn” on the lips every day, providing them with reliable protection regardless of the look.

Review of lip balms with SPF from Maybelline New York

The Baby Lips series from Maybelline New York has several balms that also take care of protecting the skin of the lips from the sun. Thus, the Baby Lips “Intensive Care” formula is rich in restorative components (including centella asiatica, aloe, shea butter, vitamin E and honey) and contains SPF 20.

The balm can be used daily all year round. It will simultaneously protect the skin from chapping, prevent the appearance of cracks and protect from ultraviolet radiation.

Baby Lips “Gentle Care” has the same protection factor (SPF 20). Unlike the previous one, this balm has a lighter formula.

It is suitable for softening and moisturizing the skin of the lips in everyday makeup. And it will perfectly serve as a primer before applying lipstick.

Review of lip balms with SPF from Kiehl's

Kiehl's, when creating a lip balm, could not help but ensure that it protected it from excessive sun activity. The Butterstick Lip Treatment SPF 30 line is oil-based lip balms.

Contains coconut and lemon oils that are high in antioxidants. The formula has SPF 30. This protection factor allows you to use the balm without fear for skin health in the summer. And translucent shades are what you need so that the coverage created with the help of balm successfully complements the image.

Review of lip balms with SPF from La Roche-Posay

La Roche-Posay has a separate sun protection line in its arsenal, which includes a convenient stick balm, which you can safely trust to protect your lip skin from UV radiation. Anthelios XL has a high degree of protection - SPF 50+.

The formula, based on a combination of sun filters called Mexoplex, literally becomes a shield behind which the skin is completely safe. This complex protects against UV rays of different spectrums - UVA and UVB. The texture of this colorless balm is not “high humidity”, so it can be applied not only to the lips, but also to other areas of the skin that need special protection, such as moles, scars, tattoo areas and other vulnerable areas.

La Roche-Posay ensured that skin protection in open sun was provided for about 6 hours. The formula, by the way, is also resistant to water: in a humid environment it does not lose ground for up to 40 minutes.

How to use sunscreen lip balm?

It is optimal to apply sunscreen lip balm half an hour before going out into the open sun so that the product has time to be absorbed into the skin: this will provide more reliable protection. Remember that double application will not increase the SPF - the effect of the filters will remain at the same level regardless of how much product is used.

Renew the coating according to your feelings: if you feel that the balm is being “eaten away”, that there is a feeling of dryness and tightness, reapply the product.

Don't forget that a balm with SPF is still not Sanskrin in its pure form. The presence of filters in the composition of such cosmetics does not mean that after applying the product you can not limit your exposure to the sun. Even the highest degree of protection of 50+, the manufacturers themselves warn, is not 100% insurance for the skin against unpleasant consequences. It is important to monitor the time spent in the sun and go into the shade without waiting for signs of discomfort to appear when the skin begins to turn red and “burn.”

The heat is finally in the city! You can safely go to the nearest beach and sunbathe, not forgetting about sunscreen. As practice shows, most people generously lubricate their arms, shoulders and legs, but they forget about their lips, thinking that they won’t get burned. They'll get sunburned (we're afraid: they'll burn, swell, and blister)... And yes, a regular moisturizing balm won't save them, so don't forget to buy a lip product with SPF protection. We'll tell you about the best below!

What's wrong with lips?

Everything is the same with them, only the skin of the lips is several times thinner and more delicate than the skin of the face, so ultraviolet radiation has a detrimental effect on it. If aging doesn’t scare you, you should at least be afraid of the burn that can appear due to ignoring SPF protection. Moreover, the skin of the lips lacks a protective layer, a thermoregulation system and practically no melanin, so problems such as flaking, itching, dehydration, dryness and cracks are faithful companions of vacation and summer.

The ideal sunscreen for lips should contain at least 15 SPF, and it is recommended to look for such markings on colored glosses, lipsticks and varnishes. The only difficulty that can arise is that sun-protective decorative cosmetics for lips have a meager palette. Glosses and varnishes without SPF filters can only aggravate the situation: the particles they contain work like a magnifying glass, attracting the sun's rays, thereby burning the lips even more. But this is not the worst thing: thanks to the usual shine, ultraviolet radiation penetrates even deeper into the delicate skin, provoking the development of cancer... For the same reason, you should not use oil, Vaseline and other products that can attract ultraviolet radiation.

Those who often suffer from herpes should also apply sunscreen balm. Ultraviolet radiation reduces local immunity and provokes inflammation. Burn + “cold” on the lip = a wild mixture that cannot be masked by anything. Not the most pleasant “bonus” that summer can provide us with.

If your lips still suffer from the scorching sun, purchase Panthenol and cold-pressed jasmine oil (not concentrated) at the pharmacy. “Panthenol” will remove burning, inflammation and redness, soothe delicate skin, and the oil will accelerate blood circulation, restore local immunity and will additionally protect lips from harmful environmental influences.

It’s so interesting to experiment with lip makeup, but we often forget about caring for this area. Their delicate and sensitive skin is the first to suffer from aggressive environmental factors and requires additional attention. The question becomes even more relevant in the summer, when lips begin to suffer from harmful ultraviolet radiation.

BeautyHack tells you how to care for the delicate area and shares a selection of the best balms with SPF to protect lips from the sun.

In summer, the skin of the lips is especially vulnerable, because it does not have the stratum corneum and pigment cells for protection - under the scorching rays it quickly thins, dries and flakes. Add strong winds to these factors, and the picture becomes even sadder.

Many people mistakenly believe that regular sunscreens are suitable for protecting lips in the summer and are greatly mistaken - the texture of body products is not intended to care for such a delicate area. In addition, SPF products often contain ingredients that should not be swallowed.

To keep your lips soft and tender, add a special lip balm with SPF factor to your summer cosmetics bag and apply it every time before going outside (find a selection of lip pencils that will replace lipstick here).

When choosing a hygienic lipstick or balm, pay attention to the composition. It is good if their formula is enriched with moisturizing components, for example, beeswax - it contains vitamin A and promotes the healing of wounds and cracks, and also has antibacterial and antiseptic properties. Natural ingredients and oils will additionally nourish and moisturize the skin. Wheat germ oil eliminates dryness and accelerates skin regeneration; coconut oil itself effectively protects from the sun. And, of course, hygienic lipstick or lip balm for summer care must contain an SPF filter of at least 15 units.

Today, cosmetic brands offer a large selection of lip care products in the summer:

Stick For lips Bariesun SPF30, Uriage

This lip stick is also waterproof, so it will come in handy on the beach.
