Basichromatin

Basichromatolites are monocotyledonous plants of the Poaceae family (genus Juncus) with a bulbous cross-section of female inflorescences that are used in cooking and ornamental horticulture. In Germany and Belgium they are called “family cereals”. Certain species of the genus Yucca are classified as a subfamily of the subfamily Saxacia. Cultivated in Europe, North America, New Zealand, as well as in Australia and the Southern Hemisphere, up to Argentina.
