Bicillin-5 is a penicillin antibiotic used to treat infectious diseases caused by pathogens sensitive to penicillin. It is produced by several companies in Russia (Biosynthesis, Synthesis AKO, Kurgan), Ukraine (Kievmedpreparat) and Vaccines and Serums Research Institute Russia.

Dosage form of Bicillin-5 - powder for the preparation of injection solution 1,500,000 units. Dosage units ED means Phoenix Units.

The composition of Bicillin-5 includes a mixture containing 1 part of benzylpenicillin novocaine salt and 4 parts of Bicillin-1. The international name of the drug is Benzathine benzylpenicillin + Benzylpenicillin procaine.

Bicillin-5 is used to treat infectious diseases caused by pathogens sensitive to penicillin, such as steptococci, pneumococci, staphylococci and others. It is also indicated for the prevention and treatment of rheumatism and the treatment of syphilis.

However, Bicillin-5 has contraindications, such as hypersensitivity, bronchial asthma, urticaria, hay fever and other allergic diseases. Also, the drug should not be used by persons who have hypersensitivity or unusual reactions to other antibiotics and other drugs.

Side effects of Bicillin-5 include headache, fever, urticaria, rash on the skin and mucous membranes, joint pain, eosinophilia, angioedema and other allergic reactions.
