Bisocard: use, contraindications and side effects

Bisocard is one of the representatives of the group of beta1-blockers (cardioselective) used to treat various diseases of the cardiovascular system. It is produced by ICN Polfa Rzeszow in Poland and has the international name Bisoprolol.

Release forms

Bisocard is available in the form of film-coated tablets in dosages of 5 mg and 10 mg.

Application

Bisocard is used for the treatment of arterial hypertension, angina pectoris, post-infarction period and moderate, stable, without exacerbation over the last 6 weeks, chronic heart failure.

Contraindications

Contraindications to the use of Bisocard include hypersensitivity to the active substance, sinus bradycardia (less than 45-50 beats per minute), sick sinus syndrome, sinoatrial and AV block II-III degree, cardiogenic shock, acute and refractory to treatment severe heart failure, acute infarction myocardium, arterial hypotension (SBP below 90 mmHg), severe obstructive respiratory failure, pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Restrictions for use include chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, severe bronchial asthma, variant angina (Prinzmetal), tendency to bradycardia, AV block of the first degree, peripheral circulatory disorders (including Raynaud's syndrome), diabetes mellitus, hypoglycemia, thyrotoxicosis, psoriasis , impaired liver and kidney function, acidosis and childhood (safety and effectiveness of use in children have not been determined).

Side effects

When using Bisocard, the following side effects may occur:

  1. From the nervous system and sensory organs: dizziness, insomnia, asthenia, hypoesthesia, depression, drowsiness, anxiety, paresthesia (a feeling of coldness in the extremities), hallucinations, impaired thinking, concentration, orientation in time and space, balance, emotional lability, noise in the ears, conjunctivitis, visual disturbances, decreased secretion of tear fluid, convulsions.

  2. From the cardiovascular system and blood (hematopoiesis, hemostasis): bradycardia, arrhythmias, orthostatic hypotension (with a sudden change in body position), palpitations, AV block, worsening heart failure, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia.

  3. From the digestive system: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dry mouth, change in taste, constipation, hyperplasia of the parotid glands.

  4. From the respiratory system: bronchospasm (deterioration of breathing in bronchial asthma), cough, impaired pulmonary function.

  5. From the skin and subcutaneous tissue: skin rash, itching, allergic reactions, acne, angioedema.

  6. From the genitourinary system: erectile dysfunction, decreased libido, increased urination, impaired urinary function.

Before you start taking Bisocard, you must consult a doctor and inform him about all existing diseases and medications you are taking, since Bisocard can interact with other drugs and enhance or weaken their effect. Also, you should not change the dosage yourself or stop taking the drug without consulting your doctor.
