Blastosis

Blastosis is an infectious disease caused by a parasitic organism, blastomycete. Blastomycetes are classified as amoebospore fungi (multiple septate amoebic nuclei). They live in the soil, from where they are transferred to plants and plant tissues, and then to humans. Some blastomycetes may be present in the soils of gardens and vegetable gardens, fresh water bodies, city parks, and store premises. The source of the disease is an infected person who releases the parasite into the environment when coughing, sneezing, talking, or by scratching the skin after contact with contaminated soil (hands, clothes, garden tools).
