Blockalcin 60

Blockalcin 60: Calcium channel blocker for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases

Blockalcin 60, also known internationally as Diltiazem, is a pharmaceutical drug used to treat various cardiovascular diseases. It belongs to the group of benzodiazepine calcium channel blockers and is produced in the Czech Republic by Lachema AS.

Blockalcin 60 is presented in the form of tablets containing 60 mg of the active substance - Diltiazem. The drug is widely used to treat angina pectoris, prevent coronary spasm during coronary angiography or coronary artery bypass surgery, and also to control blood pressure in various conditions.

The main indications for the use of Blocalcin 60 include the following conditions:

  1. Angina: Blockalcin 60 is used to reduce the frequency and intensity of angina attacks, as well as to relieve symptoms associated with insufficient blood supply to the heart.

  2. Arterial hypertension: The drug can be used to control blood pressure in patients with hypertension. It is especially useful after myocardial infarction, when beta blockers are contraindicated, as well as in patients with concomitant angina, if beta blockers are not possible.

  3. Ventricular fibrillation and flutter: In some cases, Blockalcin 60 can be used intravenously to relieve paroxysmal atrial fibrillation in combination with digoxin.

  4. Transplantology: After kidney transplantation, Blockalcin 60 can be used to prevent graft failure. The drug can also be used during immunosuppressive therapy to reduce the nephrotoxicity of cyclosporine A.

When using Blockalcin 60, contraindications must be taken into account. The drug is not recommended for hypersensitivity to its components, cardiogenic shock, severe cardiac dysfunction, sinus bradycardia, atrioventricular blocks and other cardiac rhythm disorders. You should also be careful when prescribing the drug to patients with impaired liver and kidney function, as well as in childhood, pregnancy and during breastfeeding.

Blockalcin 60 may cause various side effects, including transient hypotension. Blockalcin 60, also known by its international name Diltiazem, is a pharmaceutical drug used to treat various cardiovascular diseases. It belongs to the group of benzodiazepine calcium channel blockers and is widely used in medical practice.

Blockalcin 60 has the following properties:

  1. Blockade of calcium channels: The main mechanism of action of Blocalcin 60 is the blocking of calcium channels in the heart and blood vessels. This reduces the penetration of calcium into cells, which leads to vasodilation and decreased cardiac contractility. This can improve blood flow to the heart and reduce stress on the heart muscle.

  2. Antianginal effect: Blockalcin 60 is used to treat angina pectoris, which occurs when there is insufficient blood supply to the heart. The drug helps to dilate the coronary arteries, improves blood supply to the heart and reduces myocardial contractility, which helps reduce the frequency and intensity of angina attacks.

  3. Antiarrhythmic action: Blockalcin 60 can be used to treat certain types of arrhythmias, such as ventricular fibrillation and flutter. The drug helps stabilize heart rhythm and reduces myocardial excitability.

  4. Antihypertensive effect: Blockalcin 60 can be used to control blood pressure in patients with hypertension. It promotes relaxation of vascular smooth muscle, which leads to a decrease in peripheral vascular resistance and a decrease in blood pressure.

  5. Prevention of coronary spasm: Blockalcin 60 may be used during coronary angiography or coronary artery bypass surgery procedures to prevent coronary spasm that may occur as a result of these procedures.

Blockalcin 60 is usually taken orally in tablet form, but may also be given intravenously in some cases. The dosage and regimen are determined by the doctor depending on the specific disease and individual characteristics of the patient.

It is important to consult with your doctor before starting to take Blocalcin 60 to ensure it is appropriate for your medical condition and to rule out possible contraindications or interactions with other medications you are taking.
