Bluetooth can record fetal heartbeat

A stethoscope is usually used to listen to the fetal heartbeat. Indian scientists have developed an inexpensive and accurate method for recording the fetal heartbeat using Bluetooth technology.

Fetal phonocardiography is the modern equivalent of a stethoscope and is designed to monitor the fetal heartbeat at home. Currently, scientists have managed to improve the technique using Bluetooth technology. This technology allows you to transfer data to a computer for subsequent analysis.

Scientists tested the improved technique on 33 women with different stages of pregnancy. They used ultrasound as a comparison method. It turned out that the accuracy of phonocardiography based on Bluetooth technology is 98%. Bluetooth enables wireless communication and reduces energy consumption.

Phonocardiography is a non-invasive technique and is not associated with the use of any radiation, therefore it is absolutely safe for the fetus. In addition, it is an inexpensive method that can detect congenital heart defects.
