The groove of the long flexor pollicis (lat. sulcus musculi flexoris hallucis longi) is an anatomical structure on the back surface of the lower leg.
The flexor hallucis longus groove is formed by the flexor hallucis longus muscle. This muscle runs along the back of the leg in the lower third and forms a groove between the medial malleolus and the Achilles tendon.
The groove of the flexor pollicis longus begins at the medial malleolus, runs down the shin and ends in the area of the inner surface of the calcaneal tubercle. Vessels and nerves of the lower leg and foot pass through this groove - the posterior tibial artery, veins and tibial nerve.
