Bromidrosiphobia

Bromidrosiphobia is another name for bromidrophobia.

Bromidrophobia is the fear of bad breath. This is a rare mental disorder in which a person experiences an obsessive fear that their breath has an unpleasant odor.

People with bromidrosiphobia constantly worry that their breath smells bad and other people notice. They may spend hours brushing their teeth, rinsing their mouths, taking mints and chewing gum. Some even refuse to talk to others for fear that they will smell their breath.

This disorder can severely interfere with social interaction and lead to depression. Treatment includes psychotherapy and sometimes medication. Understanding and support from loved ones is also important.
