Dosage forms: syrup 2.5%, syrup 5%, capsules 375 mg
Composition: Active ingredient - carbocysteine.
Indications for use: Diseases of the respiratory system with copious and viscous bronchial discharge, inflammatory diseases of the middle ear and paranasal sinuses; preparing the patient for bronchoscopy or bronchography.
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity, ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract, renal dysfunction, acute glomerulonephritis, cystitis, pregnancy and breastfeeding, children under 1 year of age (for syrup), children under 16 years of age (for granules).
Side effects: Nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain, diarrhea, gastrointestinal bleeding, allergic reactions (skin rash, angioedema).
Interaction: Increases the effectiveness of glucocorticoid (mutually) and antibacterial therapy for inflammatory diseases of the upper and lower respiratory tract. Potentiates the bronchodilator effect of theophylline. The activity of carbocisteine is weakened by antitussives and atropine-like drugs.
Overdose: Symptoms: epigastric pain, nausea, diarrhea. Treatment: symptomatic. There is no specific antidote.
