Bronchitusen Vramed: antitussive combination drug from Bulgaria

Bronchitusen Vramed is a combination drug with antitussive action produced by the Bulgarian company Vramed AD. Its international name is Glaucine + Ephedrine + Basil oil. The drug is presented in the form of a syrup and is used to treat dry cough in various respiratory diseases, such as acute and chronic bronchitis, tracheobronchitis, pneumonia, bronchial asthma, whooping cough and others.

The composition of Bronchitusen Vrameda includes the main components: glaucine, ephedrine and basil oil. Glaucine is an α-adrenergic receptor antagonist and has the ability to reduce excitation of the central nervous system. Ephedrine has a stimulating effect on β-adrenergic receptors, which accelerates the heart rate and dilates the bronchi, improving breathing. Basil oil has anti-inflammatory properties and improves mucus discharge.

When using Bronchitusen Vramed, it is necessary to take into account contraindications, which include arterial hypertension, coronary artery disease, severe organic heart disease, heart failure, pheochromocytoma, thyrotoxicosis, insomnia, glaucoma, prostatic hyperplasia with clinical manifestations, pregnancy (first trimester), lactation (breastfeeding period) , hypersensitivity to the components of the drug and others.

Among the side effects that may occur when using Bronchitusen Vrameda may be tachycardia, extrasystole, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, anorexia, rash, increased sweating, difficulty urinating and others.

It is also necessary to pay attention to the interaction of Bronchitusen Vramed with other drugs. Ephedrine, which is part of the drug, can weaken the effect of narcotic and sleeping pills. When used simultaneously with cardiac glycosides, quinidine, tricyclic antidepressants, the risk of developing arrhythmias increases. When used simultaneously with reserpine and MAO inhibitors, a sharp increase in blood pressure is possible. When used simultaneously with non-selective beta blockers, the bronchodilator effect may be reduced.

In case of an overdose of Bronchitusen Vramed, symptoms characteristic of an oversaturation of the body with ephedrine may occur, such as dizziness, nausea, vomiting, insomnia, anxiety, hypertension, tachycardia, arrhythmia, sweating, weakness and others. In this case, you need to consult a doctor.
