Brustan: everything you need to know

Brustan is a combination drug that combines two active ingredients: ibuprofen and paracetamol. It belongs to the group of combined analgesics-antipyretics and is widely used to relieve pain of moderate intensity and reduce body temperature.

Brustan is manufactured by the Indian company Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd. It is available in the form of tablets and film-coated tablets. In addition, it has several synonyms, including Ibuklin and Ibuklin junior.

Indications for the use of Brustan include pain of moderate intensity due to injuries (bruises, sprains, dislocations, fractures, etc.), the postoperative period, algodismenorrhea, toothache, neuralgia, myalgia, lumbago, fibrositis, tenosynovitis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, sinusitis, tonsillitis, headache and fever. For children, it can be used as an adjuvant for the treatment of tonsillitis and acute infectious and inflammatory diseases of the upper respiratory tract.

Like any other drug, Brustan has some contraindications and side effects. Contraindications include gastric and duodenal ulcers (in the acute phase), liver and/or kidney failure, diseases of the hematopoietic organs, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, aspirin-induced asthma, pregnancy, lactation and hypersensitivity. Brustan should be used with caution for bronchial asthma, bronchospasm and heart failure.

Possible side effects may include dizziness, blurred vision, dyspeptic symptoms, diarrhea, erosive and ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract, gastrointestinal bleeding, allergic reactions (skin rash, itching), impaired liver function, nephropathy, thrombocytopenia and edema.

There is no data yet on the interaction of Brustan with other drugs. Also, no cases of overdose with this drug have been described.

It is important to note that when taking indirect anticoagulants simultaneously, control of the blood coagulation system is necessary.
