Captopril-Ferein: an effective antihypertensive drug

Captopril-Ferein is an antihypertensive drug belonging to the group of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. It is produced in Russia by the pharmaceutical company Bryntsalov-A. The active ingredient of the drug is captopril. Captopril-Ferein is presented in the form of tablets with a dosage of 25 mg.

The main indications for the use of Captopril-Ferein are arterial hypertension (including mono- and combination therapy), congestive heart failure, cardiomyopathy, impaired left ventricular function in a stable condition in patients after myocardial infarction and diabetic nephropathy against the background of type 1 diabetes mellitus.

However, before starting treatment with Captopril-Ferein, contraindications must be taken into account. The drug is not recommended for use in case of hypersensitivity to captopril, as well as in the presence of anamnestic information about the development of Quincke's edema during the previous prescription of ACE inhibitors. Other contraindications include primary hyperaldosteronism, pregnancy, breastfeeding, as well as the presence of restrictions such as leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, aortic stenosis or other obstructive changes that impede the outflow of blood from the heart, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy with low cardiac output, severe renal dysfunction, bilateral renal stenosis arteries or stenosis of the artery of a single kidney, the presence of a transplanted kidney, hyperkalemia and childhood.

Side effects are possible when using Captopril-Ferein. Some of them are related to the nervous system and sensory organs, for example, fatigue, dizziness, headache, central nervous system depression, drowsiness, confusion, depression, ataxia, convulsions, numbness or tingling in the extremities, visual and/or smell disturbances. The cardiovascular system and blood may react with hypotension, angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, cardiac arrhythmias, palpitations, acute cerebrovascular accident, peripheral edema, lymphadenopathy, anemia and other symptoms. Side effects may also include disorders of the digestive system, such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, dyspepsia, dry mouth, changes in taste, pancreatitis. There may be changes in kidney function, including increased creatinine and blood nitrogen levels, as well as blond blood. Rarely, allergic reactions may occur, including skin rash, itching, angioedema, allergic vasculitis, photodermatitis and others.

Before you start taking Captopril-Ferein, you should consult your doctor to evaluate the indications and contraindications, as well as determine the correct dosage. The doctor should also be aware of all concomitant diseases and medications taken, since Captopril-Ferein may interact with some other medications.
