Carotid-jugular anastomosis

Carotid-jugular anastomosis (eng. carotid-jugular anastomosis; synonyms - intercarotid or intercarotid astomy) is an anastomosis that allows blood under low pressure from the carotid artery to flow into the spinal canal. It is formed between the anterior surface of the first part of the internal jugular vein and the underlying outer wall of the common carotid artery.
