The cat's paw is widespread throughout Russia.

It grows in clearings, forest edges, clearings, dry meadows, along roadsides and in light forests. Prefers sandy soils.

Herbs and flowers are used as medicinal raw materials.

The grass is collected during the flowering period in dry, clear weather, after the dew has disappeared. Dry in the shade or in an attic with good ventilation. Flower baskets are prepared half-bloomed.

Baskets that are too small and baskets with crumbling flowers are unsuitable. Dry carefully, laying out on a soft mat in a thin layer, at a temperature of 40-45°C.

Store in closed wooden or glass containers for 3 years. The plant contains tannins, resin, saponins, vitamin K and phytosterol.

The herb is used in the form of an infusion as a hemostatic agent for uterine, nasal, gastric, pulmonary and hemorrhoidal bleeding, heavy menstruation and hematemesis.

The dosage may vary, depending on the severity of the bleeding. For hemorrhoidal bleeding, the infusion is used externally.

To prepare the infusion, pour 1 tablespoon of chopped herbs into 1 glass of hot water, boil in a closed enamel container in a water bath for 15 minutes, cool for 45 minutes, filter, squeeze and bring the volume to the original volume.

Take 1 tablespoon every 10-30 minutes until bleeding stops.

For pulmonary, uterine bleeding and bleeding from wounds, a more concentrated infusion of the herb is prepared at the rate of 10 g of raw material per 1/2 glass of water. Take 1 tablespoon every 1 - 1.5 hours until the bleeding stops.

A decoction of baskets is prescribed for inflammation of the gallbladder and liver. To prepare a decoction of baskets, pour 2 tablespoons of raw material into 1 glass of hot water, boil in a water bath for 30 minutes, cool for 10 minutes, filter, squeeze and bring the volume to the original volume. Take 1 tablespoon 3 times a day.

The course of treatment is 7-10 days.
