Cataract Toxic

Toxic cataract is an acquired eye disease, the main feature of which is clouding of the lens as a result of chemical or toxic exposure. The causes of cataract formation are varied: intoxication, trauma, metabolic and endocrine disorders. There are congenital and acquired cataracts. The most common is acquired toxic cataract - age-related or after drug correction or laser treatment. In 76–82% of cases, cataracts affect people over 60 years of age. Manifestations of cataracts. A sharp drop in visual acuity is observed with dense resinous opacities located at the anterior surface of the lens near the optical axis. With opacities located along the periphery of the lens and in the vitreous region, initially no changes in threshold acuity are detected.

Changes in the threshold level are directly dependent on the size and depth of the opacities, which determine their optical effect. Due to the scattering of light rays, central opacities exhibit the lowest visual acuity - from light perception to agnosia, which determines their diagnosis in the early stages of the disease and initial emergency measures. As the intensity of the haze increases, the near level decreases and the vision range increases; At first, the decrease in acuity begins for close objects and surfaces, and then spreads to distant objects, and the entire field of vision gradually becomes gray or white. Cataracts alter contrast sensitivity. The normal pupillary reaction disappears even with a small amount of light. The shape of the pupil, initially normal, changes, and various visual field defects appear. Binocular eye movements also affect the transparency of the lens. Double vision is often noted. Cataract treatment

To eliminate cataracts, they use the method of physical and medicinal influence on the process of destruction of lens tissue and the elimination of general inflammation. The goal of the treatment method is to restore the transparency of the lens. To do this, methods are used to dissolve substances and restore optimal cell shapes. To carry it out, it is necessary to make a choice between a non-surgical method of cataract treatment, surgical
