Retrograde cystography

Cystography is an X-ray method for examining the bladder. During the procedure, X-rays are taken of the urinary tract and internal organs when the internal organ is filled with urine.

The research process itself includes the following steps: the patient is asked to drink a large amount of liquid or take a diuretic, and then the woman lies down on the table, with her legs bent at the knees resting on special supports. After this, a special thin metal tube (urethral catheter) is placed into the woman’s filled bladder, which is in direct contact with the filled organ. After the cystography is performed, the nurse will remove the catheter from the woman's bladder and the examination will begin using a special X-ray machine. Thanks to a qualitative study, doctors can identify various pathologies of the urinary system (bladder, urethra, ureters, kidneys).
