Conjunctivitis Scrofulous

Scrofula conjunctivitis is an infectious-allergic disease manifested by the appearance of dense, large and small purulent follicles on the conjunctiva of the upper eyelid of both eyes, clinically resembling acne vulgaris.

Usually both eyes are affected. Unlike acne, there are no inflammatory changes in the skin of the face and periorbital area in the form of redness, infiltrates, swelling and other symptoms; follicles look like small superficial bluish-red formations that do not rise above the skin level; they are slightly painful on palpation and are not accompanied by subjective sensations. Sometimes a feeling of slight itching appears, especially against the background of eye fatigue and local infectious inflammatory diseases of the conjunctiva - allergic conjunctivitis or blepharitis.

The conjunctivae of both eyes are affected simultaneously. In most cases the first eye
