Korglykon: Cardiac glycoside for the treatment of heart failure

Korglycon, also known as lily of the valley glycoside or Korglycard, is a cardiotonic drug used to treat various cardiac conditions. It is an injection solution containing 0.06% of the sum of glycosides extracted from lily of the valley leaves. Korglikon is produced by an unidentified company in Russia, as well as by the companies Galichpharm and the Pilot Plant GNTsLS Ukrmedprom in Ukraine.

This medication belongs to the group of cardiac glycosides, which have a positive inotropic effect on the heart. Korglikon is used for acute and chronic circulatory failure of II and III degrees, as well as for cardiac decompensation complicated by the tachysystolic form of atrial fibrillation. It can also be used to relieve attacks of paroxysmal tachycardia.

Despite its effectiveness, Korglikon also has contraindications. It is not recommended for sudden organic changes in the heart and blood vessels, acute myocarditis, endocarditis and severe cardiosclerosis. Caution is also required when using the medicine for thyrotoxicosis and atrial extrasystole, as they can provoke atrial fibrillation.

At the moment, there is no reliable data on side effects, interactions with other medications, or overdose of Korglikon. However, it is recommended that you use caution and consult your doctor when using any drug.

Korglykon is an important medicine for the treatment of heart diseases. However, appropriate medical advice and a prescription from a physician must be obtained before using it. Use and dosage must be strictly followed as directed by the doctor or the instructions for the drug.
