Nikolai Vyacheslavovich Dyakonov (August 13 (25), 1869, Volsk, Saratov region - April 5, 1957) - Russian pediatrician. One of the founders of scientific pediatrics in Russia. “Pirogov and next to him V.N. Dyakonov are two luminaries from whom a new direction for children will emerge... on Russian soil,” said Academician Beketov, and, perhaps, like no one else, he has earned the right to be the second father of Russian pediatrics after Pirogov.

As the leading surgeon at the maternity hospital of the Faculty Hospital, he introduced many improvements and greatly improved the system of nursing a newborn, especially gastric feeding. According to some reports, today 70% of modern methods of organizing children's nutrition are his inventions. Dyakonov’s main development is gastric feeding of a child during the first 2-3 weeks of life (bottle feeding, without sucking). In every maternity hospital in the world today, children receive milk through a pacifier invented by Nikolai Vyacheslavovich. A textbook on the treatment of rickets, written by N.V. Diakonov (published in 1906) was admitted to teach at medical institutes. Professor Dyakonov gave lectures and a course on childhood diseases at St. Petersburg University, his works - his textbooks were published and republished several times, including in Leningrad. The main direction of research is teratogenesis (the occurrence of fetal development abnormalities under the influence of infectious, infectious and other exogenous and endogenous pathogenic factors), the feeding system for infants, pneumopathy in infants, milk hypogalactia, "deficiency" syndrome
